I'll keep this brief and hopefully not too sappy. Context- I'm the guy behind the IndieGoGo campaign to help out the Saint Vincent DePaul soup kitchen. It's about to end in an hour or so, and I wanted to extend my gratitude to all you crazy people.

First, a huge thank you to the management of Fark, from Drew down to the mods, admins and everyone else for their support. They let me submit threads to Main, FarkUs and generally make a nuisance of myself all over the queue. Without Fark's leadership being there to help, this would not have been a success.

Second, a massive thank you to all the TotalFarkers and Liters who helped out with words of encouragement and spreading the word. We did something cool.

Third, my profoundest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the campaign. Because of what you did, there will be a little less suffering in the world this winter. The president of the SVDP soup kitchen has told me he's looking forward to getting the cards and notes so they can put them up on the wall and share them with all their staff and visitors.

I'm a pretty cynical guy a lot of the time. Bitter and quick to anger some of the time. But sometimes things happen that restore my faith in basic human decency.

So, in conclusion: Thank you.

/now off to get these onions out of here.

You know what sucks worse than being a kid dragged off to a St. Vinnies thrift store nearly every Saturday so moms could shop? Seriously, I'm asking here because I hated that shiat and could wait to be on my own to never set foot in such a dive ever again. F*CK U, HIPSTERS

Oh, and god damn if I'm not an idiot and an asshole for failing to give MASSIVE props to Grand_Moff_Joseph for being the guy who actually started this. It was his idea and he also ran the Facebook page for it and did a ton of work behind the scenes. Thanks, GMF!

Now that you mention it, that soup kitchen always did seem a tad flamboyant.

I take pride as a liter, let's me live out my dreams as an anti-conformist vulture online. Plus TF'ers have their cast and crew that seems to make things more lively around here.

You should go there now. You might be missing out on a candid shot of a 15-year-old's panties or an undergrad discussion of atheism.

For those who live near the soup kitchen, I urge you to get involved! There are tens if not hundreds of clean dishes they need help with on a daily basis.

Really? I find it gives the place a ready-made lower class of people dumb enough to pay for a free message forum.

I am a news hound and for 5/month, you get to see a LOT more of the postings and links. In other words, you pay five dollars a month to feed an already bad addiction. That is why I am not a TFer any more.

You know what's really sad? It raised around the same amount as the buy biden a bird campaign which no one except the idiot that started it profited from. So sad...

It wasn't intended as a slight. I spend more time as a Liter than TFer myself.

I really hope that specific word choice doesn't derail the thread.

People posting in it.

How do you figure? The funds were to be split evenly between the four charities. I assume such has been done?

I donated to the US government.

Not the other freeloaders.

Color me skeptical until I see receipts.
