What a PoS link. Not only did the headline not make a lick of sense, clicking the link leads to exactly zero more information on what the hell I have to do to get the Shakira PPV. Your marketing fails.

Main storylines for season 11.

GEKIDO vs Chikara

GEKIDO were a stable of Chikara Wrestle Factory outcasts who returned to the promotion, injuring Chikara rookies and mainstay/founder/head trainer Mike Quackenbush, along with Fire Ant of the Colony. Quack got his revenge by injuring two GEKIDO members in return. His thirst for vengeance alienated his partner Jigsaw, who turned on Quack in hopes of bringing him to his senses.

Director of Fun Wink Vavasseur decided to book an 8 man tag pitting Quack and the Colony against Jigsaw and the remnants of GEKIDO.

GEKIDO's members: 17 (Retired), combatANT (Retired), deviANT, assailANT, The Shard; the three ANTs make up the Swarm, the anti-Colony.

Wink Vavasseur's Chikaraberametrics

Wink devised a bogus mathematical draft system, which split up long-established tag teams and put rudos on the same teams as technicos. It's deeply unpopular, and now Chikara wrestlers are openly insulting Wink.

Affected teams:

The Colony: Soldier Ant was moved to The Swarm, assailANT moved to the Colony.

The Throwbacks: Suger Dunkerton moved to FIST.

FIST: See above.

Archibald Peck/Mixed Martial Archie/The Mysterious and Handsome Stranger vs. Mr. Touchdown and Veronica

At Chikarasaurus Rex Archie lost a Loser Leaves Town Match against the Throwbacks, requiring he literally "leave town." For months Archie wandered famous American and Canadian cities before arriving in Dallas, TX. Not long after the Mysterious and Handsome Stranger appeared, and he was dashing, he was handsome and yes, very mysterious. Accompanying him was his pet pigeon, Sapphire.

Mr. Touchdown is an arrogant jock footballer who beat Archie at Chikarasaurus Rex, along with stealing his girlfriend Veronica. Adding insult to injury, Touchdown killed Sapphire, leading to the #ImmortalizeSapphire campaign, which even Jake "The Snake" Roberts joined in support of the Stranger.

Touchdown also won the Young Lions Cup this year. He defends the cup against high flyer ACH at Under the Hood. Will the Stranger intervene?

Delirous/Batiri vs The Spectral Envoy

Several years ago, the Envoy was a different team called the Neo Solar Temple. The leader was Ultramantis Black, and the other members were Crossbones and Delirious. Ultramantis controlled Delirious with an item called the Eye of Tyr. The Eye eventually wound up in the hands of the Brudershaft des Kreuszes, which Delirious (Still under the power of the Eye) joined.

Last year the Eye was destroyed, snapping Delirious out his spell, and he belligerently told Mantis, "I remember everything!" and swore 2 years of vengeance upon Mantis for the two years he was under the influence of the Eye of Tyr.

Delirious recruited the Batiri away from Ultramantis, and turned them against him. At Under the Hood Delirious and the Batiri take on the Spectral Envoy, along with Chikara alumni Crossbones and Blind Rage.

Tim Donst vs Eddie Kingston

This year Tim Donst became deranged and determined, following the disintegration of the BDK. He split from tag partner, Jakob Hammermeier, and chose to go solo. He won Torneo Cibernetico in November, and challenged Grand Champion Eddie Kingston to this match at Under the Hood. Breaking Donst is a 3-part interview on Chikara's Youtube page, and it describes Donst's determination and rage towards Kingston, Chikara and pro wrestling.

Donst and Kingston are two of Chikara's longest tenured wrestlers. Both were trained in the Wrestle Factory and have encountered each other in the past. This is a feud built on the history of Chikara itself.

Yeah, they showed up. And they didn't do half-bad, either, though XPac looked a lot better than Janetty.

Janetty is 52 years old. He doesn't have Michaels to carry him either.

Hey, I'm not making any judgments, I'm just saying Janetty has lost a step or two, and Kid looked better than he has in a long time (better than he did in his last WWE run, in fact; he's a bit paunchier, but he was flying and pulling off those sharp kicks with the best of 'em)

For all the bad things you've heard about Shawn Michaels from the mid-to-late-1990s... the substance issues, primadonna attitude, unwillingness to work with people, just remember... Jannetty was the one who they let go because HE had the real problems.

Heh. Didn't mean to imply you were.

123 Kid remains my favorite Billy Kidman persona. Hope he is healthy and gets some sort of run.

You can order the stream on Smart Mark, and the DVD will probably be available today also. SMV has a 24 hour turnaround for their products.

I thought Jannetty looked great. I saw the guy do some very agile stuff most 52 year old wrestlers simply can't do. He also did his job, which was to sell and make the Young Bucks look good, so Waltman could tag in and clean house. Waltman was also selling his neck post-match, so both veterans did an awesome job elevating the Bucks. I can't say enough good things about the YB's either. They are under-used in ROH so it's good they have the Chikara tag straps to get some attention.

For people not following Chikara storyline-wise, basically they took about half the season (roughly 5-6 mos.) to set up what happened last night.

- Archibald Peck came back in his Dusty Rhodes/Midnight Rider spoof, getting his revenge on Mr. Touchdown and Veronica for what happened at Chikarasaurus Rex. Very humorous storyline with tons of in-jokes about Rhodes (Sapphire the pigeon, the Stranger gimmick). Peck is mega-over in Chikara because he isn't afraid to break the 4th wall, do full-blown parodies, and he can perform very well in the ring. He's another little-used ROH talent (As RD Evans) that gets much better attention in Chikara under his Marchie Archie persona.

- Jigsaw turning on his mentor and partner Mike Quackenbush. Jigsaw turned full on heel while Assailant, previously in the heel group the Swarm, earned Quack and the Colony's respect, enough to do the Colony's finisher, the Ant Hill with them. This is what a well executed double turn looks like, not the Russo crap we've been force fed for 15 years. I suspect we'll see another Gekido/Colony + Quack match next year, with the heel/face lines solidified. Eventually we'll see a Quack/Jig showdown, and that will contain a lot of lucha libre-meets-puroresu style wrestling, combined with tons of submission holds.

- Soldier Ant has gone from full-blown babyface to caught-in-the-middle babyface. He's been stuck with Gekido for so long, he doesn't know if he still has a place in the Colony. The Colony is Chikara's most popular tag team, so this will be a big change for them if Soldier Ant ends up turning on the group.

- Tim Donst has evolved to being Chikara's top singles heel. He lost clean (Pretty typical for Chikara matches, clean finishes) but he looked good against Eddie Kingston, and he got major heat for treating Jakob Hammermeier like a b*tch.

All in all I think Chikara did okay this season, for not having a big bad faction like the BDK around, or a big tournament like last year's 12 Large. They haven't quite filled the big gaps left by Sara del Rey and Claudio Castagnoli though. I think Kingston as Grand Champion is wearing thin. He must play very well to Chikara's home crowds in PA, because he's largely a dick, and not in the endearing way like Stone Cold Steve Austin. Kingston got some boos for telling Gavin Loudspeaker to hurry up with the intros. Besides Quackenbush and Donst though, I don't think Chikara has anyone who can fill such a prominent singles spot. It's one of the drawbacks for their heavy reliance on tag team wrestling - few stand alone singles stars.

To conclude, I think Under the Hood was the 2nd best event I saw this year, right behind Chikarasaurus Rex.

People really hate Eddie Kingston it seems. The Twittah Machine was a buzz with hate last night.

I really love Chikara even though I am not familiar with the story lines. Quack is one of my favorite wrestlers and it is awesome to see him doing well.

Aside from spending a small fortune on their Smart Mark titles, it's hard to get the full backstory. Chikara is like a live action comic book. It has characters with back-stories, vast cosmologies and continuity that traces back years. It's awesome if you like pro wrestling and comics, and understand this mentality. It's off-putting if you're just getting into it and don't know where to start.

For example last night Crossbones was on their event, and he hasn't wrestled there for two or three years. Blind Rage returned and he hasn't been seen since season 4 or 5.

The most popular primers are their King of Trios DVDs, as those serve as a big, get-together for Chikara wrestlers, plus outside names they bring in to make their core fanbase pop (Lots of ex-ECW, early 90s WWF, Japanese and Mexican stars, mostly).

So you are all 10 years old. You pose as toughguy/ninjas and subject matter experts on, well...everything. But you're all 10 and a rather stupid 10 at that. Explains a lot of my FARK user experience.

But of course this is why I even allow and encourage this to be broadcast...distracting my puppets turns out to be a rather easy job.
