Reached by phone Sunday morning, Del. Jill P. Carter, who MacArthur said would act as his lawyer, said she was still figuring out the details of the case and was not officially engaged as the blogger's attorney.

I imagine what she said was "I don't want to represent this moron, Hon."

I think the worst part is people, especially those breaking the law, assuming we give a flying fark about their daily lives.

So, what did he do that required all this attention? Post too many LOLcats? A Rule 34 violation? Took an arrow to the knee?

Wasting the police's time while attention whoring on the internet, what an absolute douchebag.

Are you assuming he would have walked out five hours earlier if he didn't have a computer? Attention in-person wasn't going to do it for him?

Not sure why an African American male would be paranoid about being apprehended by the Baltimore police department. It's not like they regularly shoot...oh, wait...never mind.

That's probably a safe assumption from reading even just the first two paragraphs of the article:

FTA:A Baltimore blogger wanted on a court-issued warrant refused to come out of his home for hours, broadcasting his discussion with a police negotiator live on the Internet before turning himself in peacefully.

Frank James MacArthur, 47, was taken into custody outside his home in the 600 block of McKewin Ave. at about 11 p.m. - timed, he said, for local news stations - after a standoff lasting more than five hours and which involved the department's SWAT team.

According to that and more in the article it appears that he was just playing a game using the internet and the police to make sure he'd get the local news baited into giving him some attention.

It's going to be a while before he appreciates the traffic, unless he spent all that time planning how to get released the same day.

(Which, I should add, worked out pretty well for me in my 2003 criminal case when Farkers were posting "You can't negotiate with the FBI!" when I called into TechTV as feds looked for me. They had a point. I negotiated with the US Attorneys' office instead. Much better idea. Protip appreciated.)

So yeah. A little planning and a kind word can go a long way, would-be future fugitives of Fark.

So.... isn't anyone going to point out that maybe bringing in the police helicopter and a swat team might have been a little too much? or are you guys just gonna busy yourself with pointing out 'how terrible his blog is' without showing that you can do better?

by the way, his blog does look terrible.

Mine. Not much better.

Violated probation for a 2009 gun crime and failed to appear in court on it. Warrant was being served and he took exception to that. Made threats against officers, hence the artillery.

Yes. He would have walked out sooner if he didn't have a platform. I saw some of those tweets in my feed -- they looked just like the long rambling letters inmates send to reporters after they've been convicted.
