ongbok: MoronLessOff: Nina_Hartley's_Ass: fusillade762: Interesting theory from The Onion TV Club review:

Possibly Loony Theory: Maybe the Governor didn't turn on Merle; maybe this is part of the scheme they were talking about earlier in the hour, when the Governor wanted to use Daryl as a mole against the other prison people. If the Governor can find a way to first make it look like he wants Merle dead, and then find a way to let Merle escape... who knows?

This makes more sense to me than giving up all the tension and ultimate confrontation between the brothers and Merle himself will be the mole.

It's also entirely possible that the Governor legitimately thinks Merle is in cahoots with Rick's crew. He lied about Michone, which nearly got Gov killed, cost him a few of his men and lost him his prisoners.

Nah. He threw Merle under the bus because he didn't kill Michone and lied to him about doing it. As a result he now has a hole where his eye used to be. He can't justify killing Merle to the town by saying he is pissed that he didn't kill an innocent woman and lied to him about it. So instead he says Merle led the terrorist to the camp, and he has the approval of the town to kill him.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'd agree, except I definitely remember a line earlier in the episode about the Governor telling Merle that he and his brother would be his link into the prison. I don't think that's just a throwaway line. This show has been surprisingly good at planting seeds for later plot developments. Of course, he said that BEFORE he found out that Michonne was still alive, so we'll see.

FunkOut: I think Michonne is autistic.

No, just completely unwilling to open up. Even when it could make sense. She doesn;t know Rick from a hole in the wall. She knows he seems better then the Governor... in her book that doesn't mean much though.

When the Amy from Saint Paul and I were watching and it looks like Rick is ready to cut her loose, she start getting very desperate sounding. Like close to tears. I looked at the Mrs and said "She's saying please the best way she knows how... by looking terrified he might say no".

Reading the EW weekly Robert Kirkman interview, she DID add a "Please" at the end of her "I can be useful" plea to Rick. They edited it out for the more subtle approach.

/or she's just not as well written on the show because the bad things that happen to her in the comic from the Gov didn't happen
//or she's just not as well written on the show period

FunkOut: I think Michonne is autistic.

That may not be far off the mark. PTSD, more likely.
Comic Michonne clearly has issues communicating with people. She talks to herself and is very stand-offish. It might just be that in the show it may have seemed a little silly to have her muttering to herself the whole time, having Andrea go, "Whazzat?" and her going, "Nuthin."

Strategeryz0r: SuperChuck: One Bad Apple: The Banana Thug:

Love Carl this season. The way he held that flashlight underneath the gun was military-grade awesome.

It's been a standard thing for cops for about 30 years now

Cops, yes. 12 year-olds, not so much.

When your dad is a cop, and the world has gone to shiat. I would imagine he would teach you how to properly hold a flashlight and a weapon in this world without functioning electricity.

Yes, exactly. The way he's stepped up to be his dad's reliable right-hand man, being the person responsible for the prison group while Rick's away, just awesome. He's not a little brat anymore.

2012-12-03 04:17:29 PM

PsyLord: SuperChuck: The Crepes of Wrath: The Banana Thug: I have that exact same gripe too. What was Michonne's reason for going back to meet the Governor? In the comic, there was a good reason, but in the show there was none.

Other than Michonne knowing that the Guv sent Merle and his team to kill her? Yeah, I guess that's pretty trivial.

Or actually caring for Andrea and wanting to get rid of the creepy nutcase who's pulling the wool over her eyes?

I don't get Michonne's attachment to Andrea. Is she in love with her or something? Seriously.

Why do people not get the whole "friendship" thing, apparently they were on the run for the, what 8 months the other group was wandering around? That kind of shiat makes for a strong bond when you have to dodge/kill zombies...........just sayin'...........

Besides, I dont think anyone wants sex as nasty as you get without bathing every day but then Im a clean freak.........

Hebalo: ExperianScaresCthulhu: Which is in stark contrast to how Rick's group treated Hershel, and how Rick's group treated Tomas.

This show has some serious problems with it.

That's a strange reaction. It's showing contrasting behaviour, for the purpose of showing the effects of the environment on the characters. Do you not get that by showing similar situations with different reactions etc, we get a better sense of the characters and their motivations?

Not strange at all. It's all about male dominance/bucks butting horns bullshiat. Hershel was the King of his Forest until Rick and Shane showed up. Rick the Beta Male wanted to obey Hershel's laws........... Shane the Alpha Male said 'Fk That'. Guess who won.

Right now, Tyrese is in his right mind. Rick is not in his right mind. By having Tyrese willingly and eagerly symbolically prostrate himself to Carl, it allows the status quo to continue as it has been.

Otherwise, Rick would be in danger of losing 'his' group to Tyrese................ and we can't have that now, can we.

that bosnian sniper: kumanoki: Aside from that, I love the show, the comic, and the game, but I am pretty disgusted with the death of Oscar. That is ridiculous. I really hope the writers do some serious mea culpa coming up in the future, Because right now the show is looking racist. Racist.Racist.

Yeah, that was the lone -- huge -- stain on an otherwise good episode. I could almost understand it but for the established Revolving Door of Black People on the show, and the fact they waved it right in the viewer's face by introducing Tyreese as Tyreese in the very next goddamn scene. It was almost an intentional, proud, acknowledgement of the "one black dude" rule.

Seriously, if Tyreese dies when Morgan is reintroduced, I'm done with the show, no matter how much I like it. Eff that in the Bee.

That's not the rumor. Morgan is going to die after being reintroduced. Status quo must be maintained.

I'm so mad. I'm just thinking about what would have happened if Rick had handled things like Carl is handling them, instead of how Shane would have handled them, when it came to Tomas. They would have had that prison cleared out, the gates put back up, all the walkers taken care of, more hands on deck, and a force to truly be reckoned with.

Instead the group is dying. Oh yeah, and the only prisoner left is the misunderstood white dopehead. Yeah, whatever.

/Andrea's comment about 'young black man in a prison outfit' made my temple throb
//Andrea's treatment of Michonne at the Governor's, only to be rebuffed by the Governor when she went to comfort him had me howling
///Die, Andrea

ongbok: kumanoki: Lsherm: kumanoki: Oh, and did Tyrese ever actually drop the hammer on the mommy with the arm bite? As I recall, conversation happened and Tyrese left her lying on the floor with a bandanna over her face.

Either we can assume they'll eventually take care of her, or it's going to be the stupidest unresolved plot hole for the next episode.

I did like how Carl was a nonchalant about doing it.

And I love how Sasha gave Carl the "Kid WTF is wrong with you?" look when Carl said that he would do it. Her whole attitude towards him was "WTF is wrong with you?"

And then Tyress steps in and is like "biatch shut up! His house, his rules"

It was truly a 'It's only okay when Rick's Group does it' moment, that one.

Crewmannumber6: Brick-House: Plant Rights Activist: I still don't understand why they didn't take pedostache on the raid with them.

and why did you kill off Two-Dogg Night!? He had his slippers and was getting along with the group and everything. Yar, that just makes me angry.

So do you think Chester the Molestor will get the slippers now???

I think he's gonna try to rape beth and Herschel will kill him.

FunkOut: I think Michonne is autistic.

I think they're going to misunderstand his intentions, just like they have everything else, and Axel is going to end up being killed for some shiat he didn't do. Just like in the comic, but different character and slightly different circumstance.

2012-12-03 04:42:44 PM

slayer199: Plant Rights Activist: That and he found out Carol isn't a dyke which could be bad for her. Daryl was pretty flatly against her advances so she might just start macking on the creeper.

I don't think that's necessarily true. I think Daryl has a thing for Carol...and vice versa. If they survive long enough, we may see it.

I thought Carol was doing Axel in the guard tower?

Do you not get that by showing similar situations with different reactions etc, we get a better sense of the characters and their motivations?

Not to mention that with the case of Hershel's farm, the group generally abided by Hershel's rules while trying to convince him of their usefulness and need for safety, and the humanity of welcoming other survivors who prove themselves decent people. Shane blew that situation sky-high, well after he'd already demonstrated himself unstable and a liability to both Hershel's and Rick's people.

In the case of Tomas, it's understandable. They were convicts and generally in prison for a reason, Tomas already tried to screw them once (by lying about the amount of food the convicts had), was combative from the beginning, then straight-up made an attempt on Rick's life. That was all after Rick attempted diplomacy, fair negotiation and trade -- remember, Rick made the point to the convicts first and foremost that there was plenty of room and supplies for both groups to share, and mutual interest in working together even if they don't fully assimilate. Rick tried to play by the same rules he did with Hershel, them Tomas screwed him over.

Yeah, it's a contrast to show the development of Rick's character, and those of his group. However, each circumstance was mediated by external factors that made different reactions to each a necessity.

What? The first thing the prisoners heard from Rick's group was 'get the fk out'.

Rick wasn't sharing anything with the prisoners, he was demanding them to do this and do that. "Give me half of your shiat and I'll allow you to keep half, for now" is not sharing! Dude.... There was no diplomacy involved. Only male dominance displays.

Again, this is some 'it's okay when Rick's group' does it shiat.

Because Rick's crew basically saved the prisoners. They cleared out the yard and a bit of the interior before they even found them.

Eh she was against it, but became convinced at the end of last seasons soap opera that Carl needs a gun. Seems like they may have taught him a few things in the 8 months between the farm and the prison.

But who knows! Maybe creepy uncle Shane gave him some training too!

...of the cell block Rick's group had cleared for themselves, yes. Rick made the point there was plenty of room and safety in the prison to share, and offered to help the convicts clear their own cell block in exchange for food. He also made it clear that for the fact there was ample space and safety and that for his survivors had cleared their own block, they weren't leaving on a whim.

Them Tomas tried to fark Rick and the group over. Twice.

I can see the Maglite being easier than the bat since it's already hollow.

But yeah, there's a reason you don't see criminals with home made silencers very often. It would take a good deal of time in a machine shop and if you didn't line everything up perfectly the thing would stop working after a couple of shots. Not to mention most pistols don't come with threaded barrel extensions. Though I guess if you didn't care about ever taking it off you could just weld it on.

There was some bullshiat irish mob series on Showtime a few years ago. In one scene a guy uses a 2 liter pop bottle as a silencer, with decent results , so ya never know.

I'm guessing in the event of a zombie apocalypse, people will end up being rather resourceful as a matter of survival.

I'm going to side with a suspension of disbelief and not quibble about the minor technicalities. Maggie had the line that sums things up the best: "All this time running from walkers, you forget what people do, and always did."

No they don't. I just enjoy the show and try not to put too much science into it. If Carl has a silencer made from a ball bat, he's got a silencer made from a ball bat. I don't want to know if how they made it was accurate. Don't give a fark.
