THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE sympathetic black male character. But I am sure, according to zombie show rules, he will have a chance to sacrifice himself for white folks later.

2012-12-02 10:23:24 PM
Did anyone else pick up on that Axel and Carol "were in the watch tower together"? I think Daryl just lost his chance.

So what's the over/under on a 'for real this time' brother-against-brother zombie fight to the death?

THGL: Did anyone else pick up on that Axel and Carol "were in the watch tower together"? I think Daryl just lost his chance.

Daryl's thinking about more than widow poon right about now. Like, how he's going to survive Zombie UFC.

The new teenage guy in Tyrese's group reminds me a whole lot of a central character in the Walking Dead video game. If he ends up being a bit of a clumsy fark-up, I'll know for sure.

2012-12-02 10:34:51 PM
Oh, and did Tyrese ever actually drop the hammer on the mommy with the arm bite? As I recall, conversation happened and Tyrese left her lying on the floor with a bandanna over her face.

Oh man, I really hope those two are nothing alike. He looked a bit like Randall to me, but I'd probably change my mind if I actually saw them side-by-side.

But if he finds that mustache-guy has been hitting up on his short-haired squeeze, there will be big problems.

Either we can assume they'll eventually take care of her, or it's going to be the stupidest unresolved plot hole for the next episode.

He is like Robert in the original Red Dawn. He tasted blood now he almost craves it.

I didn't get to comment during the show, so a few thoughts:

1) NOOOOO not Oscar... appears the one-black-man rule is in full effect. And Rick is still a bit insane...
2) Carl has become the shows hardass!
3) Andrea is f'ing stupid to be sticking with one-eyed Willy.
4) If Merle and Daryl can somehow escape Thunderdome, WHITE-TRASH ROAD WARRIORS!!!!

2012-12-02 11:15:07 PM
Seriously, this "one black dude" rule has got to farkin' go. I'm starting to get offended and I'm a white dude. Got damn.

And, maybe Merle turning good guy? I'm OK with that.

yeah speakin' of which.

Whatshisname voiced Coach, they have a Rochelle lookalike and that one dude looks like Ellis. All they need is a Nick, and they'd be a left 4 Dead 2 reference.

Methadone Girls: mother farking farking fark.

We have to wait till February?? Really??

As I mentioned earlier, this show airs on Sunday nights, so they have to steer clear of the NFL post-season or else they will see a huge dip in the ratings through the Superbowl if they don't take a break between now and then. Yeah, it sucks, but that is the reality of the TV scheduling, and I'd rather not have TWD not premiering around Halloween.

Yeah "one black dude" rule is annoying. Then again, Glen seems to be the last asian person on the planet, so at leats the black dudes get a fighting chance once in a while. Which I guess beats the "no eskimo" rule.

If only when no one is looking, Glen or Maggie gets to shank Merle with a bone in the back, I'm good with Merle being a good guy for awhile.

In the preview of next ep. they show Glenn telling Maggie "we can end this now" in what looks to be the prison. I'm curious if "this" is the argument of letting Merle into the group.

If so, and if they off Merle, that would add tension between Daryl and Glenn for the rest of the show.

There's really only one ending. You just have the one choice at the end to make. none of the other decisions really make a difference up to that point.

SundaesChild: I did not see this Merle as traitor story line coming. I imagine someone will scold me for not knowing it was in the graphic novels.

That's the best part of Walking Dead. It is essentially an alternate universe from the Graphic Novels that draws inspiration, characters, and some basic plot points from them without sticking to them which keeps people who have read them from spoiling as much. So many things are different (Sophia is still alive, Hershel kicked the group off the farm, Daryl isn't even in them, etc.) that even someone with complete knowledge of the books is still just speculating like the rest of us about what will happen next.

It isn't like Game of Thrones say, where assholes like me who have read all 5 books multiple times cant help but jump ahead and spoil shiat in discussions for people who haven't done the homework..

Which is, oddly enough, exactly one week after the Superbowl which pretty much makes it certain that the NFL postseason is the whole reason we're getting the split season.

My wife just asked "did they really have to make a black character call a prison cell comfortable?"

I'm loving this season but I have a minor nit to pick. In the comic The Govenor is really not nice to Michone so when she is not nice back it makes total sense. In the show yes he sends Merle to kill her but I don't know she kind of takes that far too personal like. Seems more likely she should be pissed at Merle. I mean unless she was pissed about him stealing Andrea but that didn't seem likely.

No, he has "one black dude" and "one black chick" locked up. Allen, Donna, and Ben are white. They also look to be revamped versions of the comic family with the same names. I wonder if they'll apple the "one black chick" rule to Sasha and Michonne... Personally, I think Sasha/Ben will go out the same way Julie/Chris did in the comics.

I have that exact same gripe too. What was Michonne's reason for going back to meet the Governor? In the comic, there was a good reason, but in the show there was none. Obviously, someone had to kill his zombie daughter as a catalyst to go after the prison, but it felt so shoehorned.

2012-12-03 01:35:14 AM
When I heard that scream in the prison, I really thought it was going to be THAT scene with one of the prisoners. I'm glad that it was just a creative way for Carl to discover the other group and pull off that awesome "come with me if you want to live" badassery.

Love Carl this season. The way he held that flashlight underneath the gun was military-grade awesome.

geom_00: AMAZING episode! SO SO SO SO SO much better than Where is Sophia!

Agreed, but the Barn Massacre scene DID make me tear up a little...I don't say it very often, but that night I let loose with a "gawddammitsomuch..."

Also, Carl is a wicked badass.
