Never understood tats.

My theory is that people with tats are broken in some way.

Usually a cross between attention whoring and poor impulse control. If folks make a whole body art thing about it, it becomes actual art, but it can't just be a collection of tats, it has to be a cohesive presentations.

Anastacya: I am genuinely curious. Mine are 100% natural and I know that some guys are turned off by that, too.

How does that work? Do guys expect you to get implants or something? Doesn't make sense to me. I would take small-real over big-fake any day.

WhippingBoy: Podmore: I actually admire the people who do feel so passionately about something that they'll permanently ink it on their body. And I'm always amazed by the people who just didn't stop to think that maybe that "POG Collector" tattoo might not be so cool a decade or so later.

"Some other people's tattoos suck, but mine are deep and meaningful."
Everyone with a tattoo says this.

You must not ask many people about their tattoos. I do all the time, and I've never heard any single one say that. None of them ever question the meaning/depth of other peoples' tattoos, though sometimes they complain about crappy artwork. Mostly they'll just tell you what their tat means to them. Sometimes it's more depth than you would guess. Sometimes they just "thought it was pretty." Sometimes they'll say "Yeah, I was an idiot when I was younger."

Dr. Roger Spain (First Applicant): [House won't hire him because of a tattoo] Wow! I thought you'd be the last person to have a problem with nonconformity.

Dr. Gregory House: Nonconformity - right. I can't remember the last time saw a twenty-something kid with a tattoo of an Asian letter on his wrist. You are one wicked free thinker! You want to be a rebel? Stop being cool. Wear a pocket protector like he does, and get a hair cut like the Asian kids that don't leave the library for twenty hour stretches. They're the ones who don't care what you think.

Dr. Gregory House: [pause] Sayonara!

Technically, you're a yute.

What is a yute?

IAMTHEINTARWEBS: UsikFark: The tramp-stamp is translated as "double happiness."

Sooo, Does that mean she takes it in the pooper or what?

Double happiness is not a path up the mountain, it is the view at the top.

Well, their skin was certainly broken, so I guess you're technically correct.

No tats personally, but I've always been fascinated by them. I just can't think of an image I can muster that amount of commitment for. I actually admire the people who do feel so passionately about something that they'll permanently ink it on their body. And I'm always amazed by the people who just didn't stop to think that maybe that "POG Collector" tattoo might not be so cool a decade or so later.

My favorite librarian stereotype. Crazy cat-eye glasses, tattoos, and a love of linguistics.

"It is to say that we're cool and we're diverse and we're not your mother's or grandmother's librarian"

It is to say that the tattoo craze may finally be over.
