(Sportige)   So here's the real question: how can the third-best team in the country give up 350 yards of rushing? And as a bonus question, even given 37 days to prepare, will Notre Dame do any better?   (sportige.com) divider line 81

It'll never be a true national championship game until they line em up and have playoffs within 2 weeks of the last game.

2012-12-02 12:21:48 PM
It's a good thing tOSU has a long and glorious record of getting crushed by SEC teams in bowl games. Otherwise, when Alabama annihilates ND, the 'tOSU ARE TEH REAL CHAMPEENS' crowd might actually get some supporters. Now, though...meh.

2012-12-02 01:23:35 PM
I don't know. How can the Nebraska Blackshirts give up 539 rushing yards?

2012-12-02 02:07:11 PM
37 days is actually too long. The national championship always looks more like the 2nd week of play as opposed to the sharp play at the end of the regular season.

2012-12-02 02:07:19 PM
the team ranked #3 is not the same as the 3rd best team in the country.

2012-12-02 02:08:02 PM
fark you subby. Georgia lost by 5 farking yards. That's the difference between an SEC championship and a national championship win and not even making a BCS game.

Come on Notre Dame. Beat the Tide!

2012-12-02 02:08:24 PM
alabama is clearly unbeatable. no team this season could possibly beat them.

Alabama can beat NFL teams!

Alabama had a relatively weak & easy schedule this year AND had the loss to Texas A&M (an honorable loss, since TAM is a great team).
Though I am a fan, I'm not sure the Tide has earned the right to be where it is right now.

Alabama 31
Notre Dame 17

2012-12-02 02:23:55 PM
Answer, even ranked number 3, they did not have the 3rd defense in the country.

Notre Dame is significantly better vs the run on paper than Georgia is.

That being said, while I'm hoping for an ND win, I think the game will be at least much closer than the SEC echo chamber would have you believe.

2012-12-02 02:23:55 PM
Sure, Georgia gave up 32 points to Alabama. But they also gave up 44 to Tennessee, 23 to Buffalo, and 20 apiece to Missouri and Florida Atlantic.

I'm not entirely convinced that Alabama's impressive offensive numbers weren't as much due to Georgia's defense as they were to Alabama's offense.

Notre Dame isnt going to take kindly to hearing about how badly they are going to get destroyed in this game for over a month. Remember in 2006 when everyone said for a month how badly Florida would get blown out by Ohio State, or how everyone said how badly Ohio State would get blown out in 2002 by Miami? I think the game is going to be much closer than people are saying and I think ND pulls out a squeaker.

2012-12-02 03:07:08 PM
The playoff is good, but the next step is having the playoff games start right after the conference championship games. They can still play bowls later in the year if they want to, but after a few years I predict that bowl games will find their way to their rightful place in the dustbin of history.

2012-12-02 03:07:38 PM
Great, another year where the SEC is gifted a national championship birth. This plus one can't come soon enough, and maybe in 10 years there will be a really championship

Why you no include 35 to South Carolina's "high powered" offense? ;)

For what it's worth, anyway.

If Alabama wins, we'll be subjected to non-stop gloating from SEC fans. If Notre Dame wins, we'll be subjected to non-stop spunk-gargling from the media.

Either way, far from being ambivalent or apathetic, I find myself rooting for a very specific result -- a blowout. While it's clear we'll have obnoxious vicarious douchebaggery to deal with regardless of whoever wins, at least if there's no doubt in the result we won't have to put up with ear-splitting whining at the same time.

There's a rumor flying around that Northern Illinois is going to the Orange Bowl?

Can any FARK sources confirm?

That was suppose to be Ohio University breaking the BCS....damnit Solich!

So Alabama won the national title last night. Ho hum. After all, Alabama will break the alltime single game scoring record against ND in the title game. (It really should be Florida there but I digress.)

2012-12-02 05:35:45 PM
I'd rather see Oregon against Alabama. That would actually be a good game.

The open Alabama fanboy ism in these headlines is farkin pathetic. I hope Alabama shiats the bed again so I can read the immense amount of butthurt from you retards. I bet that Call of Duty kid was a Farker.

The computer has spoken.

Alabama 31 - Notre Dame 18

I don't understand how Kansas State wins their conference, pretty decisively, and FALLS a spot while a two loss Georgia is ranked higher

I think it's more like the Sugar Bowl picked Florida over Georgia, because I believe that three teams from the same conference can't play in BCS bowls.

I could be wrong.

More like NIU earned an automatic bid by finishing in the Top 16. The Orange Bowl had to take them. Plus, Georgia was never going to a BCS game since only two teams from each conference can play in BCS bowls unless they're planning in the BCS Championship Game.

Considering now one else can beat the SEC in the NCG, I'm not sure how trying to fight off 2 SEC teams in a playoff is going to be any better.

Honest question: is it official that they were #16? I missed it on TV and every "projection" I'm looking at had them at #17.

rugman11:

Never mind. It's now up on the official site. Of course, it couldn't be published there until ESPN "officially" unveiled it on their network, and I must have just missed it.

The only way NIU could have gotten in as an at-large is if the Sugar Bowl chose Louisville (who also had an autobid) over Oklahoma. And then the Orange Bowl would have also had to have taken NIU over Oklahoma. There's no way either of those schools is a better draw than the Sooners. They have to have snuck in with an automatic bid.

Yeah, I saw. I just happened to post in between the time where ESPN unveiled it and whenever sites could officially post standings without violating the exclusivity deal.

In other news, how does Jerry Palm have a job? He's horrible.
