Just tuned in. Was wondering why the English and All Blacks looked so terrible, then realized it was a women's game.

Hmm...4 tries in the loose, not one a pushover? Wasn't ugly from where I was sitting.

I was talking about the men's game.

The All Blacks game is based on three things

1. Commiting as few as people as possible to their own rucks and recycling the ball quickly so they have a numbers advantage
2. Having more of the ball so the other team gets tired by having to defend all the time so they can then pull away in the late stages of the game.
3. Richie McCaw spending more time on the other teams side of the ruck than his own.

England managed to stop all three to give them the chance and then took the opportunities that they created to win

He was. Tuilagi should have been MoM in my opinion. Not many get the better of Smith and Nonu!

No kidding eh? He played a great game! One of my co workers came in my office and was watching over my shoulder. I was explaining to him how the game works (he's never seen a rugby game before) and England committed a penalty. I told him, "Ok, watch this. Carter never misses"

D'OH! They just didn't have it in them.

Got to give England their due. They play a hell of a game, especially when NZ looked like they were going to make a game of it early in the 2nd.

Sorry I didn't respond, I'd had a few shandies during the rugby and then watching football so after my last comment I retired to my sofa and ceased to move for the rest of the night!

The ABs just looked half a step slower than usual. They didn't look disinterested as such. I think it's probably a culmination of a long season during which they earned unanimous plaudits and it was the last game before going home. Some of them probably had one eye on the plane already and I can't really blame them. Some of it did have something to do with England not letting them play, but I think that's a small factor rather than the main factor. Of course, much of the British press won't say the same!

Really it all comes down to point 3, having been a flanker myself my disgust with the man is tinged with no small amount of jealousy. There is no way that I could have ever got away with a fraction of the infringements that man usually manages. Are referees in bush league, club rugby that much better than international ones or does Richie have some talent which makes him invisible in real life but clearly visible on a TV?
Luckily these days I have moved forward to the front row, so I no longer need to hit the ruck from behind or spend my life skulking in a ref's blind spot.
