Looking forward to watching this. She is one of the best in the business.

I've never heard of her, until now. So, why should I divert my $5 from Drew to Maria this month?

2012-12-01 10:36:02 AM
I was vaguely aware of her.....she's on the Marc Maron podcast from like, Tuesday, if you're into her.

newsflash: she's nutty in a way that I can't figure out if she's cool or what. Very hot though.

Maria, marry me for the insurance coverage, if nothing else.

I bought the crap out of this. So awesome.

Huge fan of hers ever since I discovered her on Tim & Eric.

She is a super funny female comedian. You won't be sorry.

Yup. I just spent my food money for the week, cause I had to get the t-shirt. I don't know why I wanted the t-shirt, I never wear stuff that says things.

It's so, so good. One of the best stand-up specials I've seen in a while. I was delighted, if not surprised, to find out that her mom's voice is EXACTLY like Maria's impression of her.

FTFY : ) Bamford is one of the best going. Brilliant deconstructionist setup on this last one. And incredibly funny as always.

been watching her since the A&E Evening at the Imrov days. She's been around a LOONG time.
She is also ...encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com.

hyperbole much?

my favorite nutty, midwestern, hot comedienne with a cartoon voice is Mary Mack.

She's actually quite good (although a bit repetitive). I generally don't like female comedians because they do the same schtick, but Bamford is original and funny. Good for her, I look forward to the special.

And I'm sure you and your douche friends laughed about it over pork rinds and episodes of So You Thnk You're Talking.

Heh, I was just thinking this morning of my favorite female comedians. Bamford took first place after a lengthy internal debate involving who would like my rice krispies the best.

Followed closely by Madigan.

Did the author never see the Maria Bamford web show back in 2006?

Apparently the author never thought about the bits, or chopping them up, or having sex with the bits.

I'd bam her. Never heard of her. Like the voice and the quirkiness.

A true comedian of comedy.

Listening to her Nerdist interview this week at work was...not a great idea. She's been through some rough shiat the past couple of years.

She's the new spokeswoman for Google. Look her up, dipstick.

She also does a lot of the voices on Adventure Time. Great voice artist in addition to being a great comic and good person.

Watched 5 seconds on youTube and she was doing an unfunny impression of her parents. From that I extrapolated more Cathy-like humor from her. I'll pass.

2012-12-01 12:45:50 PM
eh, I give her credit for originality, but what little stand-up I've seen of her was pretty terrible.

I like her so much I actually went to the Improv to see her. I usually never drive on Melrose at night if I can avoid it.

Meh, your loss. She's hilarious, may want to give her more than 5 seconds.

I just listened to her appearance on the Nerdist last night and if i'm any judge, she could use my $5 to help pay off what is probably a gigantic hospital bill hanging over her head.

2012-12-01 01:21:39 PM
Anyone have an audio or video link to her stand bit where she applies to be a Big Sister or some such? I remember something about "dirty monkey dance." Can't find the clip online.

For some reason I read that as "Marky Mark" and laughed.

Maria Bamford is very funny in a very black humor I shouldn't be laughing sort of way.
I would love to see her in a double bill with Kristen Schaal.

2012-12-01 02:56:01 PM
I've never heard of her, but her wild-eyed look demeanor would make me think twice about approaching her. For anything.

I've got tickets to see her at Laughs in Kirkland, WA in two weeks. Can't wait.

I saw her years ago on a&es night at the improv and never forgot about her. The thing that struck me is the way she opens with this weird, nerdy, seemingly affected demeanor. But then she does these perfect impersonations of normal people and you realize you can never know where the impersonatjon begins or ends with her. It sounds like she doesn't either. She's my favorite comedian.

She's cute, funny, smart, and crazy. I bet she shags like a minx, too

Hmm... I read the headline and spent an hour watching her clips on YouTube. She's pretty damn funny. And cute and quirky. Give her more than 5 seconds.

Love her! I bought this! So funny! I love her imitation of her sister.

(Is that her real house? I thought she was famous/successful enough to have something fancier.)

Saw her set in "The Comedians of Comedy" on Netflix. Pretty farking funny.

Well there's the kiss of death right there.
People have such tremendously low standards for female comedians.
Can anyone share a good bit by her or a good routine?
Yes I can search for it on google or youtube, but I want a farker's opinion about a set which is her best.
Thanks.

Jesus, yes. There was a moment on her Nerdist the other day where she dips into a smooth jazz DJ voice where her voice just...becomes that smooth as chocolate sound. I had no idea she was that gifted of a voice worker.
