Good luck though.

I'ts an interesting concept but I wonder how durable/long lasting something like that is.

2012-11-30 09:53:24 PM
I believe that should read "I hope an American Farker wins because, y'know, SCREW EVERYONE ELSE"

Or something like that.

Regardless, it let me enter. Maybe I'll gum up the works.

I can think of like 3 or 4 improvements/additions off the top of my head.

LEDs, piped in steam/hot water for snow removal.

ducts for wires so things can be electrified.

Additional addons like benches and planters with a built in watering system...

types with built in thru slots so things can be placed on them and washed down

etc.

Actually, I will look into this.

I think I'll just go buy a bunch of 2x6.

Interesting product. I could see other uses for it, too

/like a portable stage for outdoor shows
//I know I could have used that for my band on a few gigs

Unfortunately in April, Apple will come out with the smaller and thinner iDeck.

For parties, this looks IDEAL to protect lawns, or for improvised dance floors. I say bravo!

Nice idea, but how does it hold up to sun? I've found, after moving to NC, the sun makes a lot of plastics brittle inside a year. Even rubbermaid storage containers crack.

Does "one-way assembly" mean you can't do it wrong, or that you can't take it apart?

Apple lawyers are already drawing up the paperwork to prove they came up with this idea written on a tampon in 1982.

Subby's mom has been banging the guy who has been working on getting this to market for 3 years, to celebrate it's launch in February we are giving a starter kit away, hoping a Farker wins."

That was really bugging me so I used my imagination to fill the void.

After looking at the design I'd answer your question yes and no.

If each piece was lighter, I'd consider this for a portable temporary pad for my telescope.

Best of luck, subby! Great product idea!

Can I get one that has different colored pieces so it looks like a giant Tetris?

"(1) Like us on Facebook, (2) Fill out the form below and click submit, (3) WIN (either you will win a UDECX Starter Kit ($1,499 retail value) or receive a $250 coupon code."

1. Fark your Facebook requirement.

2. $1,499? I've never built a deck. Is that a good price for a 10x10?

What is UDECX, paragraph six: UDECX is one of the most affordable complete decking and patio solutions on the market.

That should have been the first sentence, not six paragraphs of deathless marketing like this crap:

Now more than ever before, we want products that fit into our belief system.

UDECX is innovating the manner in which renters, families, and even businesses utilize their outdoor living space.

When connecting with friends and family is something we enjoy and believe in - we seek ways to make that environment work and adapt.
(What does that even mean? Why do you need to "believe in" events like seeing your friends and family? What environment? What is it adapting to? Are there people who do not believe in connecting with friends? Should they not have decks?)

On another page, it says: At UDECX, we believe in simplicity. Apparently not in describing what the hell your product is. If you can't describe this thing in two sentences and say how much it costs, either you don't know what it is or you're embarrassed of the price, or both. Fix it.

Sheesh, you probably thought there was something wrong with the Biden TransAm campaign, too!

/Agree; some people couldn't sell whores to sailors on credit.

I like it, I can see how renters would like it, I guess they could dismantle it and take it anywhere. It isn't for me though, so I'd rather not enter and risk winning, someone who could use it more should get it. As I'm not renting, and with my rocky unlevel ground, I'd rather hammer some forms together and fire up the mixer.

I also wonder how well it would hold up in the Arizona sun. You could send me a chunk of the platform and I'll put it out for official testing.

Cool subby.

What I really want though is a temporary screened-in porch system to go out from my gutters over my patio. Something I can throw up fairly quickly, or take down quickly, as weather and bugs permit. Preferably something that collapses down small for simple storage in the garage.

2012-12-01 02:23:59 AM
What I really want is a stray cat trap/composter.

As the UDECX product is do-it-yourself friendly, no general contractor is required. Hence, total cost of ownership is significantly less than traditional decks.

There are people who hire a general contractor for a farking deck? FFS, I can design and implement my deck addition on my own, thankyouverymuch.

All due respect, subs, but you work for douchebags.

2012-12-01 03:20:17 AM
Some people make enough money to hire people and people have differing skillsets.

/the more you know

2012-12-01 03:20:20 AM
You should make a travel version of this for camping. Something lighter and more forgiving for uneven terrain. If the conditions suck, getting up off the ground even a little bit can make a big difference.

Cool product, though. Good luck!

/Also agree you should market the price versus regual patios more aggressively

Good luck with the new product.

Fine print says "Information collected from participants is used only for the purpose of the prize drawing and to notify winners." But that isn't really true, is it? When people "like" the FB page, their FB information will be used to market the product to them.

I wouldn't join Facebook if Scarlett Johansson came over and built me a 2-story solid gold deck while naked and then gave me a hummer when she was done.

Good luck anyway, you not Scarlett, fully-clothed, plastic deck guy.

THIS. Way too much holistic crap in the "What is UDECX" section. The only thing that needs to be there is this paragraph:

UDECX is one of the most affordable complete decking and patio solutions on the market. As the UDECX product is do-it-yourself friendly, no general contractor is required. Hence, total cost of ownership is significantly less than traditional decks.

historynow11: For parties, this looks IDEAL to protect lawns, or for improvised dance floors. I say bravo!

that's what I was thinking.. useless, IMHO for anything resembling a traditional patio, but it would be great for providing temporary flooring for an out side event, or a floor for giant party tent.

that's the angle I thin y'all should promote the thing, and I'll do something about pimping the idea to some promotions people I know.
