Based on the speed they'll be shiatting this franchise out, I'm sure that its not important.

Only if it ends in the execution of Jar Jar Binks.

Wait... Bush administration "important" or Obama administration "important"? There is a difference.

Obama important.

See, Lucas was Bush. He kept telling us his mission was accomplished, and that Star Wars VII wasn't important.

Now that there's a new guy in charge, he's all about getting shiat done.

Everyone is so cynical about this new franchise.

Maybe I am just setting myself up for colossal disappointment again, but I'll be damned if this doesn't excite me.

What would you guys all prefer, that we be left with only the pleasant hazy memories of eps 4-6 for the rest of our lives?

There's no Lucas directly in it. Give it a chance, jeezus.

This is the same company that has been turning out some of the best comic book movies ever, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

If you get your hopes up, at best your hopes are met and at worst you're disappointed. If you expect ewok princess summertime fairyland, at WORST you'll laugh at your expectations being met. More likely, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

You say that now, but you might change your tune when Disney decides that Star Wars is the perfect vehicle for their Disney Channel pop stars. Imagine an entire movie with actors whose acting abilities are Hayden Christian-esqe.

From where the franchise is now, that's a step in the right direction.

I would love to see new characters in a different era. Don't worry about connecting the people in the films. There are SO many stories that could be told in that universe.

Give me some films way after the events of 4-6. Give me some films detailing the formation of the Republic and the establishment of the original Jedi.

I'm a chick. Bad acting doesn't scare me or even make me cringe too badly. They make it, I'll buy it, watch it, play it.

Well, not entirely true, I haven't watched much of the Clone Wars cartoon... but that's more because I haven't had kids the right age for a while... I will again soon, though!

Few things in show business are as difficult as keeping things secret. Nothing sucks more than busting your ass on something cool only to have some internet asshole blab to the world.

Of course the only thing that would surprise me about these films were them to be good.

I've got it.

The importance of keeping the details of Star Wars VII secret is "as important as the hunt for Osama bin Laden"

So basically, it's going to run 10 years beyond schedule and billions of dollars over budget.

Are you saying as a woman you lack the ability to detect terrible acting? Can I cite you the next time a girl wants to watch Did You Hear About the Morgans?

So the Young Jedi Knights series by Kevin J Anderson and his wifey? Although I'd have banged the red-head who got her arm chopped off.

You can try...

But something that's important to remember... If a chick is asking you to watch a bad / sappy anything with her, it may not be in your best interest to antagonize her.

Though, I think what I really mean is that women are generally more emotional, so over acting doesn't seem as cringe worthy as long as the interactions / story are good or ... maybe just satisfying... yeah, satisfying is the word I'm going to go with here...

Bingo. This is exactly how I'm approaching the new SW series. I got my hopes up for all 3 prequels, foolishly, and had them dashed every time. No more. This time, I shall expect some godawful Twighlight Potter and the Crystal Skull Rises mess, and (I hope!) be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

Lucas self-financed the production, so he was signing the paychecks of everybody he supposedly had no control of. The film obviously benefited from a greater variety of strong points of view than were involved in the prequel productions, but this myth that Lucas somehow wasn't in control or getting what he wanted is silly.

Thank you. I was wondering when someone was going to call subby out for the entirely bullshiat headline. Nothing even remotely like this was said. The actual quote:

"I think everybody was mature about it," Horn said. "It's important to keep these things confidential, so people just kept their mouths shut. Not many [people knew about it]. It was a very small group. Probably a smaller group than knew about the attack on [Osama] bin Laden!"

Absolutely nothing wrong with that statement.
