Are you sure that's not Vin Diesel? Has anybody seen him lately?

2012-11-30 09:51:34 AM
maybe he's strength training the ankle.

2012-11-30 10:10:14 AM
That's nothing for a baseball player

2012-11-30 10:10:22 AM
I believe that's the "fark it, I suckered you into another contract for my aging ass" diet that many older athletes indulge in.

Now we know who's been hoarding the Twinkies.

He has plenty of range to his left, as long as he's reaching for an overstuffed baked potato.

Or, when you break an ankle one can't run for an extended period of time. Therefore you get a case of the fats.

He still has more sex than you.

He could be eating in excess purposely so he doesn't lose muscle mass from full blown atrophy. When I hurt my leg and couldn't use it I lost 20 pounds of muscle that I didn't regain for 8 months. He has to be ready in 5 at an age much older than me. Its going to be easier for him to lose the fat than it will be to regain muscle.

The Pope has more sex than most farkers.

Yeah, I'm sure Jeter will show up to spring training out of shape, that sounds JUST like him.

And I can't wait for the article in June about how Jeter is ignoring the NY Post reporter. They pull shiat like this, then act like these guys owe them something.

WTF Indeed: Or, when you break an ankle one can't run for an extended period of time. Therefore you get a case of the fats.

Seriously. He can't do his regular work out routines right now. Plain and simple.

Oh good god- dude blew out his ankle and can't run. What the hell does the Post think is going to happen?

When I blew out the ligiments in my left ankle 15 years ago, I could barely WALK nonetheless run. I packed on 20lbs. It's unfortunate, but it's kind of inevitable.

I am SURE he will show up at Spring Training in better shape than he was last year. It's the Jeter Way.

I'm shocked that a person limited by a broken bone and unable to go through their normal workout routine for 6-8 weeks suddenly put on some weight

2012-11-30 10:45:29 AM
Not fat, just bulking.

Well, that settles it. Rey Ordonez is the King of NY shortstops.

more cushin for the pushin?

If he plays at that weight, it will really decrease his range.

I'm pretty confident that when he gets back on his feet, he'll be in better shape than most most of us within 3 weeks. And really, is this what you want, Post writers? Taunt Derek Jeter? Don't be surprised when your wife, sister, mother, and daughter all come home with gift baskets.

Nice.

I must be getting old, I remember when he was worth his weight in gold,
but now, who could afford that, not even the Evil Empire.

2012-11-30 11:06:31 AM
He's probably on some kind of (legal) steroid that bulks you up. Either that or he's bloated from a long weekend....but I didn't think he drank so, whatever. If I didn't have to show up for work for a couple more months I'd probably slack a little too.

You don't think that Jeter, his doctors, lawyers and Bud Selig would sit down for a steak dinner and make sure in writing that whatever he was about put in his system is absolutely not in violation with the substance abuse policy? You realize how bad it would be for baseball if Jeter went down like that...after the 1998 home run race fiasco?

Do you think MLB would let one of its cash cow get tested for anything? Is there any proof of the Yankees having ever learned of "legal" steroids? Because the list of Yankees disgraced by PED use is rather long as it is now, and I don't think Jeter is any different from any other grown man struggling to stay physically able to excel at a child's game in spite of the ravages of time.

"D-Rock. What you wanna do is only eat cheeseburgers between noon and midnight or midnight and noon. Mix it up a bit. Keep your metabolism on edge wondering when you're gonna drop another greasebomb. Oh, and get one of the Super Big Gulps from the Sev while you're down there, dogg. Keep that biatch full of carbo-load goodness."

That looks more like he hasn't taken a dump in a couple days and just woke up from a nap than it does a ten pound weight gain.

then again he does look old as fark and I won;t be surprised if his productivity falls off a cliff this year. I also would not be surprised if it didn't. At this point though, it's not if, it's when.

Yes, when a guy on "legal" (sic) steroids shut them down in game 7 of the 2004 ALCS. There are legal steroids that can be taken / injected to aid healing.

Yankees still suck.

ChrisDe: If he plays at that weight, it will really decrease his range.

For shame - he'll have to wear moonshoe cleats so he can continue to jump and throw balls that would be easily fielded by a defensively decent shortstop.

Nah but seriously, seems kind of shiatty to jump on the new doughy physique of a guy that's been presumably immobile for a little while. Plus, I'd hazard a guess most farkers would need a decade of anorexia to get to the level of "fat" Jeter is at right now.

wait a second didn't I read this just yesterday?

@realDonaldTrump: While Derek Jeter is training every day in the off season, reports come out that A-Rod is partying all over the country. Go Derek. @Yankees

I had a similar break in my ankle 2 years ago, gained almost 25 lbs after it and I've only now gotten below 170.

If we're talking about ourselves, I had the opposite problem. I shredded ligaments, a tendon, and a nerve and lost 20 pounds. Took me a little over a year to get back up over 190.
