laststarfighter: A friend of mine lived near the Crapi Apartments. When I saw their photo, I thought they had snagged the one I had taken, due to the mail truck in both.

I knew someone who lived there, and the apartments were surprisingly uncrappy.

fusillade762: L.D. Ablo: I don't know why they chose Boring Street when there's actually an entire town of Boring, Oregon.

My grandparents used to live in Boring.

Osomatic: There's just no way "broom rape" can be good. No matter how you parse it.

It probably says something about my sense of humor that I kind of want to move there.

/I'd never use a broom for cnc, but it'd be amusing.

Not overly embarrassing a name on its own, but it's worth a chuckle that all the crackhead hookers in Danbury, Ct can be found walking up and down Beaver Street.

Imagine being a coach in Sandusky.

There is an Asylum Street in Catonsville, Maryland. It doesn't help that it's located on the outskirts of a psych hospital, but there are actually houses where people live.
I used to drive by it every day.

Neither embarrassing nor a double entendre, the college town in which I live has an intersection of Woodstock and High.
The sign has probably been stolen at least once a year. The city finally got smart, and now each street has its own sign on opposite corners of the intersection.

Broomrape is actually a very nice area. The Vikings named it that to keep people from moving in.

jaytkay: Awesome!. When our family lived on Guam in the late '60s-'70s, before we moved on base we lived on a dirt road out of Dededo. There was just a pole and a sign: "Chicken for sale" and an arrow to the neighbors'.. So, that's how we got our mail for a couple years.

It always amused me that Baltimore's red light district aka "The Block" is between Gay and Commerce streets...

There's also a Butt Hollow road in Salem, VA. The first time I saw a sign for it I had been driving for over 10 hours and was wondering if my mind just made it up.

Yea the streets in the subdivision were named after birds

Swallow Street, Quail Trail, Larkin Court, Wren Way, Thrush Terrace and they tossed in Deer Run for the hell of it I guess.

There's a "Felch Avenue" in Jacksonville, FL. The poor friend I was staying with had no idea why I wanted her to stop the car so I could take a picture of the street sign while I was giggling uncontrollably.

There's an intersection of "High Street" and "Gay Street" in West Chester, PA. Common directions include "Get on High, turn on Gay". :-/

In San Jose, CA, there's a short street/cul de sac in a not very nice neighborhood. At least it wasn't a very nice area at the time. The houses on this street were much nicer than most of the surrounding area.
I kid you not, the street is called "Pipe Dream Ct" . I about died laughing the first time I saw it.

Has it stopped the sign from being stolen? I know when I lived in Anchorage the sign High Place would get stolen a lot, a friend of mine even had one of em in her bedroom. Also on Elmendorf AFB people liked to steal Bong Ave.

cman: cman: I assume Broomrape comes from some sort of Old English word or phrase (considering that "rape" in this instance is most likely from the administration meaning)

/Rape has different etymologies that have different meaning

I was wrong. Should have Googled, first. Apparently a "broomrape" is a kind of plant.

you also could have read the article to find that

Austin,TX may have that beaten - "the high road". That sign has been stolen so many times that you have to direct people to the pole where the sign should be. It's gone about 90% of the time..
