What the president is worried about, Major, is what happened and why in Benghazi. He is not particularly concerned about whether the ambassador or I went out and talked about the fact that we believed extremists might have been responsible.

Yeah what a tool for caring more about what caused a terrorist attack than why they fingered the wrong person in the immediate aftermath.

Remember how we never thought we'd see an end to the endless torrents of Palin threads? Well, that's how I feel about Benghazi threads.

There's just...Jesus there's just nothing left to argue about.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief.  The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our female ambassadors.  We did.

But you can't hold a whole administration responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted CIA memo writers.  For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole intelligence community?  And if the whole intelligence community is to blame, then isn't this an indictment of our government institutions in general?  I put it to you, media, isn't this an indictment of our entire American society?  Well, you can do whatever you want to me, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America.  Gentlemen!"

Why, in the middle of an investigation, were they expected to tell anybody anything? When the cops have a suspect in mind they usually don't tell people that they think they know who did it. In many cases withholding information from the public early in an investigation is the well respected norm. This is a case of initially trying to placate Republicans and then being surprised that they twist your words and intentions into club to beat you over the head with it. This is all they have to show how butt-hurt they are. It's sickening and disrespectful to those who died, but when has that ever stopped a Republican.

We should create a third branch of Congress solely to investigate Benghazi, maybe call it the House of Benghazi.

Benghazi is still not a thing. It won't be. It was a tragedy.

Move on.

Hey, remember that time that John McCain spouted baseless speculation about various military engagements and programs that later turned out to be false? No, not that time. The other time. No, no, not that one either.

"In historical moment today, the newly-formed House of Benghazi met for its first session today. All 100 members were present for the ceremony, in which after the pledge of allegiance was said, the lights were dimmed and a 17-hour session of public masturbation was begun. Reportedly, the members of the House of Benghazi were furiously pounding their tiny yet very chapped penises while viewing a PowerPoint presentation featuring photos of the dead bodies of the four victims."

If there was no 'lie' to begin with then there were no lies that followed. Please tell us what that first "lie" was... PLEASE!

"First of all, there's an FBI investigation which is ongoing. And we look to that investigation to give us the definitive word as to what transpired. But putting together the best information that we have available to us today our current assessment is that what happened in Benghazi was in fact initially a spontaneous reaction to what had just transpired hours before in Cairo, almost a copycat of-- of the demonstrations against our facility in Cairo, which were prompted, of course, by the video. What we think then transpired in Benghazi is that opportunistic extremist elements came to the consulate as this was unfolding. They came with heavy weapons which unfortunately are readily available in post revolutionary Libya. And it escalated into a much more violent episode. Obviously, that's-- that's our best judgment now. We'll await the results of the investigation."

I haven't been keeping up.

Is Benghazi a scandal yet?
