HeartBurnKid: Crabs_Can_Polevault: The usual strategy, if you want to smear someone, is to throw all of your mud at him or her, in the hopes that some of it sticks.

The GOP variation on this strategy is apparently to keep throwing the same single clump of mud, expecting that one piece to stick sooner or later.

I honestly think this is all they have at this point. Which makes me feel much better about Obama as President; if all they have against him is the birther nonsense and this bullshiat, he must be squeaky clean.

What you fail to understand is that Obama is guilty of precisely the same crimes as Team Red and GWB. Team Red media doesn't articulate this because they approve. Every argument made against Obama is calculated to agitate the base, not to elicit change. Fox News, et al. need to keep up appearances with their support base, and to do that they need to hate on the uppidy black guy. It is that simple.

Probably, seeing a how your descendants for several generations will be reading textbooks that detail the many many failures of Bush and his presidency.

/Not in Texas though. Their textbooks don't require facts.

TimonC346: Pincy: TimonC346: This whole "GET OBAMA OVER BENGHAZI" thing is only marginalizing Republicans as the morons they've become. It's sad only the most devout Republicans (and those in charge) don't seem to see this scandal is hurting them more than it will ever hurt President Obama.

No, it's not sad, it's hilarious.

To me it's a little sad. There isn't a voting option for people like me anymore--and that's not really a good thing. I feel like politics at some point was choosing the lesser of two evils. Now the Republican party has just fallen into being openly evil. About everything. Always.

Nah, it's hilarious and you know why? They are being given the chance to join everyone else in the real world and they're collectively saying "NO! WE DON'T WANT TO!" They shouldn't be feeling all butthurt now that people mock them for the closed-minded fools that they want to be.

I'll be more than happy to give them a chance to get out of the echo chamber. If they refuse, fark 'em and leave them to their fate.

you know there's a perfectly good reason why the CIA decided to go with the "protest" angle on the attack.
they may have put it out there to cause those responsible to either relax and think we were looking in a different direction or hope they come forward to claim responsibility and in doing so expose themselves.
it wouldn't be the first time they put out disinformation to misinform a target.

Is that how it went down?

Probably more like:
BushCo: "Here's the intel. Go disseminate it."
Rice: "Okie-dokie. I trust that you guys would never feed me bullshiat, fully expecting that I would disseminate it to the American public (sometimes at your specific direction, like the op-ed*). Gee, I hope I get an oil tanker named after me someday...

"First of all, there's an FBI investigation which is ongoing. And we look to that investigation to give us the definitive word as to what transpired. What we think then transpired in Benghazi is that opportunistic extremist elements came to the consulate as this was unfolding. Obviously, that's-- that's our best judgment now. We'll await the results of the investigation."

Right they wanted to turn it into a campaign issues to attack Obama. Now that Obama got re-elected now they are just turning it to fight rice because they have worked themselves into such a frenzy about it.

Isn't it amazing how it magically turned from being Obama's fault to Rice's fault after the election??

I think they didn't want to add more fuel to the fire that was going on in the middle east mostly.

While people where rioting around the middle east about the US hating Muslims they didn't want to come out and look like they are saying "You dirty Muslims are attacking us again!!". I do think they could have done a better job at it.

I figured that the GOP would have learned the lessons from the Clinton impeachment, where Bill came out smelling like a rose and they had egg on their face, but they didn't. There's simply no modern evidence giving me reason to feel they'll ever learn from their mistakes. Even if a few of them make comments in interviews about how they need to just cool the antagonism and get to work on working with Fartbama to run the country.

Errant teenagers learn more from their screw-ups than these clowns do. It's baffling that these are grown-ass men and women in positions of power, whether in the actual government or their media.

Even that's not a fair comparison though, the 4 Americans dying in Bengazi was in no way the result of faulty intelligence, it was the explanation of why the attack took place that was faulty.

Thousands died in Iraq as a direct result of faulty intelligence, that's much worse.

I agree, much worse but I was really looking at this from the Monday morning QB position. Both events are now history but the GOP seems to have a big hard-on for one and has no interest in the other, they just moved on and said "it was about liberating Iraq from an evil dictator.

It's sad that Stewart can do this bit and get a lot of laughs on it, as in, "wow, you know, that's a really good point, that's funny," instead of "so will his next joke be about the fact that the sky is blue, or water is wet?" It's a joke that should have fallen flat because it's so obvious.

That people like McCain and Graham can do this kind of thing with straight faces, and not be run out of town on a rail, is the best sign I can think of that we're completely farked. Politicians can call for peace one day, and total war the next, and peace on the third, and then insist that on day one, the warmongers were monsters, on day two, the pacifists were traitors, and on day three, the warmongers were truly the greatest threat, truly, and we let it go by.

I got a hot tip from this little known site, Wikipedia, that Hillary will be 69 years old in 2016. She hasn't been living the cushy California union boss lifestyle like the last 69 year old we elected President, so I'm thinking that might be an issue.

Seriously, it was Hillary's year in 2008 and Obama drank her milkshake. She's been a great SoS, but that will probably be her last major public office. She couldn't do politics better than Bill, maybe she'll try to do philanthropy now?
