Olive Hill, the hometown of country singer Tom T. Hall, is about 80 miles east of Lexington off Interstate 64. It is about 20 miles east of Morehead.

Sparks has been mayor since before Hall took office in 2003, Hall said.

When you start having to elect your country singers, that's a little too much democracy.

The police chief is also named Hall. Took me a second too.

I had heard the police like to set up sting sells in or near schools to take advantage of the additional mandatory sentencing.

With that on his record, he has the cred to get elected in Chicago or Detroit now.

Nice that the person working with the police set up the buy within 1000' of a school so they could charge him with a felony.

If he has been mayor for over 9 years I would imagine his side business wasn't getting in the way of his official duties.

"You got the stuff? Ok let's do this right by the local elementary school."

"Seriously? Can't we do it at Wal-mart or something?"

"Nope."

"Sounds legit."

I know a judge in Kentucky who got elected based on his experience with the justice system. Said experience was having served time in the state pen. This dude will be fine.

I did see that, but the awkward juxtaposition of the Tom T Hall reference was too funny to pass up. Gotta watch those antecedents, people.

Quickie mart across the street still legal to sell lethal 'fake pot' herbs to kids.

Olive Hill is smaller than most WalMarts, I can't imagine he'd have a lot of official duties.

I must be getting old, but in my day we did that in the bathrooms.

The law is an ass.

You can be three football fields away, across a highway or through dense forest, and the wrongness of the action and the penalty for it magically increase. This is just like "hate crimes" and "terrorism."

Nobody said he was trying to sell pot to little kids. Even I would find that a bit much.

You say "I'll give it free to your Mom if she's a hottie. Got a picture?"

No kidding. Take a dump in a public restroom, no problem. Take a dump 10 meters away in the building lobby, and suddenly it's a crime?

In Olive Hill they probably prefer meth. Seriously. This place is redneck central. It makes Arkansas look classy.
