(Rochester Democrat and Chronicle)   Anti-tax Republican who promised during her election campaign not to raise taxes plans to charge property owners $5.3 million for snow removal this winter. sdd2000: Wasn't that the original argument about the mandate in ObamaCare, that it wasn't a tax. I seem to recall the "walk like a duck, quack like a duck" line from the GOP then.

If it herps like a duck, derps like a duck...must be socialism.

// since the GOP won't call it a tax, it's not a tax. QED
// stands for "Queers, Evil Democrats"

From the NOAA article, "The more we dig into this[NOAA] shadowy, quasi-military organization, the more we're frightened."

Oh. My. God.

CPennypacker: If you think you can get Bollinger for $44 room service at the Waldorf Astoria I have a bridge or two to sell you.

The Waldorf Astoria didn't have a button for corking fee on blue raspberry Mad Dog 20/20, so they used the 'shot of Bollinger' button.

sprawl 15,

Perhaps I'm missing the "joke" but you do know that purported receipt was proven to be phony long ago right? The NY Post, even retracted the story and noted that Michelle Obama wasn't even in NYC that day, much less staying at the Waldorf.

If you think you can get Bollinger for $44 room service at the Waldorf Astoria I have a bridge or two to sell you. They charge more than $20 for a Bagel.

It was a typo. It was actually "Boone's Farm"

Arkanaut: Vlad_the_Inaner: It's a fee, because the payment required is exactly proportional to the work and effort required to perform the task, in each particular instance.

Oh wait.

Its not.

it's proportional to an accessed property value.

It's a tax.

Shhh. Maybe if Obama can convince the Republicans to charge a "social insurance fee" or some bullshiat "instead" of a tax, they'll be able to come to an agreement on this whole fiscal cliff deal.

"Fee" sounds like money that is helping a Job Creator put people to work.

"Tax" sounds like money that is helping a drug using welfare queen pay for her two Cadillacs.
