I'm still not sure what's the point of cheerleaders. Sure it's cool to have some people standing on the side of the field/court, getting some chants or applause going, but why do they feel the need to stand on guy's shoulders or form pyramids or go flying through the air? About all they're good for is flashing their underwear and cameltoes to all the horny old men in the crowd that aren't going to get any from their spouses tonight because they're at a farking sports game instead of at home listening to their old lady nag them about cleaning the house.

/yes, I have issues

Well, a lot of girls like doing jumps and flips and gymnastics type stuff, but their high schools don't have gymnastics teams. Cheerleading is an outlet for tumbling, and the cheerleading is suffered through for that sake. A number of the (HS) cheerleaders probably hate the other cheerleaders and the games/teams with a passion, but like tumbling.

Cheerleading = "Sport"

You're right, dear news anchor! That was "tough to watch."

Here is a cheerleading video that is a little easier to watch (SFW).

And no it's not too dangerous, the spotter screwed up.
You want a sport that's too dangerous, look at football.

1) Lara Spencer is hot.
2) Why is it head over heels? Her heels being over her head is clearly the problem.

I was at a San Diego Chargers game, and watched a cheerleader get dropped from a pyramid onto her head. She also got carried off on a back board.

At that same game, the Chargers ran the second half kickoff back for a touchdown. In the end zone seats were all the high school champion football teams from the local area. The kick returner was holding up the football, allowing all the kids to lean over the rail and touch it, and the rail collapsed and about 15 kids spilled out onto their heads on the field.

Starbuck, WA?

/I'm surprised that the coffee company hasn't filed a lawsuit against the town.

Since when do cheerleaders at pro sports events try cheers that you see in college? I thought all they did at pro sports was maybe shake their pom-poms a bit and maybe some choreographed hip gyrations. I thought those acrobatic moves were mostly stuck in the high school/college level since the cheerleaders are usually pretty small/short so they can be thrown up and caught more easily.

/not saying that it's not dangerous

Landed on her head and broke a rib and some vertebrae? Methinks her head didn't take the brunt of the fall, but I'm no doctor. I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night, though.

People used to think rectangles with rounded corners couldn't be used in a lawsuit, either.

Obviously, Bob is responsible for cheerleading injuries and accidents.

My daughter has been cheering for almost 10 years and I don't get it either, except she loves it. We have an understanding; she can be a cheerleader as long as she doesn't act like one.
