(Washington Post)   Jennifer Rubin takes Romney campaign strategist to task, for "writing a self-serving op-ed" that fails to grasp the reality of why his candidate lost. FTFA: Look, if understandably he still wants to keep charging large sums for his services and therefore not openly confess his mistakes, that is fine. But then don't write a self-serving op-ed.

You can get paid for shiatty writing like this?

I went into the wrong farking business.

And he does a service to Romney in pointing out that the much-maligned candidate won every income group except those making less than $50,000 and also won younger, white voters.

Maybe she should just say the n-word and get it over with. It might be cathartic.

Lolwut?

So instead of dangling from a cliff you do a lot of high leg kicks?

It really does anger them that the vote of a poor minority woman counts exactly the same as that of a wealthy white male.

This is where they don't get it and never will:
You lost because people didn't like your candidate, his positions or your party. Not because of a bad campaign.

Suck it up, try to learn something from your defeat and move on.

As the all the votes are being counted Obamas lead continues to extend.

He is now heading for a 5 million popular vote victory.

51%-47%

In about a week and a half we will know the total vote which is probably closer to 129 million people. Right now they have counted almost 128 million votes.

romney also did better than McCain did and has exceeded McCains total whereas Obama (losing north carolina and indiana this time) has not done as well but is about 4 million less than in 2008.

The Republicans might want to consider that they have managed to win the popular vote in 1 of the last 6 Presidential elections. Their problem is systemic.

FTA: (It is a bit galling, however, for the consultant who was allergic to an idea-driven campaign to praise Romney's boldness on entitlement reform and effort in "making the moral case" for capitalism.)

Entitlement reform = 'Not caring about the poor' because of the 'safety net'

Also, I'm sorry, since when did capitalism need a white knight? Was it under serious attack? Did Obama vow to turn us into Sweden? I must have missed that somewhere along the line.

It's such a wonderful thing to log in this morning and find them rabidly eating each other.

This, the House GOP turning on each other, splintering over the issue of taxes on the Middle Class, diverging from Norquist's pledge...

The disparate voices, all trying to sound sage and learned, all spouting different reasons as to why they lost...

And that adorable William Bennett proclaiming the inevitable failure of 'liberalism'...sometime soon. Any day now. You'll see.

Of course. But compare the number of repubs blaming the lousy campaign to the number of them saying, "hey, maybe we should be re-thinking a few things".

that's a good point. Had Romney not been an ultra religious out of touch rich guy and Ryan not been a douchey zero of a human being it might be easier to look at the failings of their positions on issues.

When I was a kid I didn't take history seriously. I didn't believe the adage "those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it." But now it's so clear and I'm stunned that people older than me can't see it. You will never have the "absolute death" of liberalism or conservatism or any real 'ism' in politics; it'll just take on another guise and come back around like a pendulum. How can these morons not see that?

2012-11-29 09:35:24 AM
Cnn's politics and Opinion sections have numerous reports of various factions of the GOP harassing each other and making contradictory demands of Boehner. It seems as if at least part of the House GOP is opening coaxing Boehner to go along with the WH offer to extend Middle Class tax cuts and let the top rates return to 1990s levels.

Can you have possibly have imagined 'that' happening a month ago?

How the hell do people like Jennifer Rubin, Dick Morris, George Will, Krauthammer, David Brooks, etc, still have jobs after all this? Where I work, if an analyst were to mess up a single analysis that badly, they'd probably get reprimanded at best, fired at worst. Mess up as many times as these clowns have, and they'd absolutely be out of a job. So how do these morons still have jobs? It boggles my mind.

They're not being paid to be right. They're being paid to hype a narrative. The success or failure of the narrative is irrelevant.

They're digital cheerleaders on a Prom Night parade float that caught fire and crashed into the local orphanage. But if they stop for a second, even a second, to acknowledge the horror, well...There's always someone else behind them who'll take their place.

Romeny and the Republicans biggest failure is in the use of language.

Talking about economic growth and jobs and opportunity- those are alien concepts to many.

It's trying to talk a fatso into putting down the immediate gratification coming from the breakfast Coke Cola and fries.
In return for the future benefits of better health and mobility.

Obama and progressives promise fat free burgers and fries and loose weight in 15 minutes a day while watching TV.

trickle down economics is bullshiat and people are sick of your lies, so if that's the "language" you are referring to you are spot on. Tax cuts for the rich and cuts to services that real middle class and poor people use to pay for them is not a winning platform.

That was already their idea. Romney wanted to cut taxes on the wealthy, then raise taxes on the wealthy so there was no net change. That way they can get tax cuts, AND say they wanted to close loopholes, AND not have to actually do any math because they assume that step 1 and step 2 cancel each other out completely.
