Well, I never though I would say this but that's a pretty cool gun safe.

Sweet! All I need now are guns, and this will more than pay for my Amazon Prime subscription!

Amazon Prime is some of the best money I've spent in a long time.

This is what I consider to be a great personal interest story. None of that cat in a tree shiat.

It stores guns and doesn't afraid of anything?

In all seriousness, daaaamn. I don't even have any guns and I want that gun safe. I'm sure I can think of lots of things I could put in it.

I once had an 8,000 watt gas generator delivered by Amazon free of charge. At 5:30am I got a call from the delivery guy's wife - he was coming in with an 18 wheeler and didn't know if he could navigate the snow and ice covered one-lane mountain road I live on - LOL. So I meet him the guy somewhere he can get to, and the first thing he says is "How are you going to get these pallets of snow chains weighing thousands of pounds onto your truck?" Obviously those weren't mine, but apparently they were also bought from Amazon - free shipping.

I did this with a Costco subscription. Their price on the safe was so low I saved about $100 by paying for a membership. It wasn't even a gun safe, although it is an awesome safe: QE5541 Fire Safe. It has a USB pass-through so you can put a USB hard drive inside and read/write to it from outside the safe. It sits in my office next to the computer, and I use the protected drive as my backup location.

I got free shipping on a pretty big stick welder from Amazon. It was damaged in shipping (farking thing was in a box, not on a pallet!!), so they paid to ship me a new one. I waited to send the old one back so I could swap parts to make sure no damaged parts were on my welder (really just the metal case and doors, both units functioned flawlessly). Didn't have to pay for any of that shipping.

It does make it easier to ensure that your wife or daughter isn't sleeping around again. Just lock them in there.

The AR in the pic - free-float barrel and flat top but with an adjustable Magpul stock? Camo mag? Huh?

I have a pair of Cannon safes similar to the one in the article, but smaller (only 3' wide). Good safes.

Could be Remington VTR.
The same company that owns Remington owns Magpul.

Either FedEx Freight will deliver it or a contract delivery company. It will be left at the delivery door. They will not help you get it in the delivery location

I'd buy it just to see the look on the face of the UPS guy...

pudding7: Amazon Prime is some of the best money I've spent in a long time.

I don't have a prime subscription but I did take the free month trial, I must say that it was great. I haven't ordered from Amazon in years but this program alone makes me look for products through there again. When I plan on ordering more things I will dish out the money because the free shipping pays off fairly quick.

2012-11-29 10:26:25 AM
A guy I worked with ordered a water compressor that weighed 60-70 lbs and had it shipped 2 day via Amazon Prime. I thought that took the cake. I was clearly wrong.

2012-11-29 10:26:40 AM
Amazon executives insist that it all works out in the end. In the words of CEO Jeff Bezos, "It's not like we didn't do some arithmetic ahead of time."

And with that statement, Jeff Bezos was disqualified from ever running for President as a republican.

Overstock delivers massive stuff for $3. Amazon prime is choice however. Just the free video alone is cheaper than Netflix.

Many people collect guns. They aren't for shooting Bambi or self defense, they're for shooting at the range and showing to your buddies. If the collector is responsible, they may well have a gun safe.

See, I went all that way to find a roadkill raccoon, and I forgot the most important part.

I thought I did it right having my California king memory foam mattress @ 110lbs overnighted for $3.99. Prime kinda spoils you. This time of the year my place looks like an amazon warehouse there are so many boxes laying around. UPS and Fedex guys know me now and I think even the sketchy Lasership guy does too.

2012-11-29 10:35:49 AM
I like having a warehouse a couple towns over because the super-saver option usually gets here within a day or two; no need to pay for overnight delivery.

2012-11-29 10:37:30 AM
or you could just buy one at your local gun store like I did. They delivered it for free.

2012-11-29 10:37:48 AM
Hey, the stupid article even managed to get a plug in for 50 Shades of Grey!

And they say the FedEx guy might not hate you forever. Certainly he won't because FedEx would never deliver this safe. Their max wight is 150 lbs for business and 75 lbs for home delivery.

Uh, you get free video service, much like netflix or hulu... But with a better selection.

I recently ordered a mattress from Amazon, and the shipping was going to be $112. I paid for Amazon Prime, saved a little bit instantly, and have free shipping for a year. Plus I can add up to four people onto my Prime list, and they get free shipping too.

It's a winner in my opinion.

2012-11-29 10:39:20 AM
So they say that it's about $700 to ship the safe... That's normal shipping... But with Prime, it's 2-day shipping... And it's only a small fee to get next-day. Shipping through Fed-Ex Standard Next-Day is anywhere from $1.63 to $5.68 per pound depending on where it is being shipped... So at 1,672 pounds... That's $2725 to $9500 just to ship it... Which means Amazon would most likely be taking a big loss.

Just need some Sarah Mclachlan background music as we're shown sad pictures of Amazon warehouse employees. After reading articles about those places this Summer it wouldn't me much of a stretch. Sorry, Amazon could give a free kitten with every order and it still won't unblock how inhumane they treat their warehouse workers.

Imagine the logistics of just moving it around inside a typical wood structure house. If you try to move it with heavy-duty carts or dollies, the wheels would just crunch right through the floor boards. you'd have to lay down steel plates or roll it on pipes to distribute the load. Stairs would be a no-no. You'd have to keep it against a load-bearing wall or it would eventually warp the structure of the house. The best place for it would be the concrete floor of a walk-in basement.

I have an Amazon Prime membership specifically for this stuff.

I live in the city and walk to do my errands like grocery shopping. I'm currently living alone so carrying a week's worth of food home isn't a big deal with a backpack.

However, I also live with a dog and a cat. And there's no way I'd be able to manage carting home a 40 lb box of cat litter, a 30 lb bag of cat food and a 40 lb bag of dog food all on my own.

So Amazon Prime to the rescue. Buy almost all of my nonperishable items that way these days. Running down to the doorman and taking the elevator up is so much better than panting and groaning a half mile down the road with arms full of cleaning supplies.

Also quite a few instant videos to watch. Sometimes I find things there I can't watch on Netflix, and there are no ads like on Hulu Plus. And there's a book lending library, too, though I haven't used it often, which gives you access to one free book a month, for a month.

Who needs to own hundreds of collector plates?

See a pattern?

$4 overnight shipping, free two day shipping. I'm guessing free shipping over $25 for non-Prime members is typical ground?

I buy a LOT of stuff from Amazon. I've been using Prime since it came out. I very frequently buy stuff that's less than $25, so I enjoy the free two day shipping, and occasionally the overnight.

2012-11-29 10:42:11 AM
Amazon is starting to offer free shipping for imported items (... like foreign-made candy...) that are small and possibly considered impulse purchases, which may or may not be bad news for certain people's diets. You used to have to pay individual shipping prices on those items. No more, if you're buying a certain total amount of merchandise.

2012-11-29 10:42:44 AM
Not an Amazon Prime customer but I frequently use the free shipping (because I don't need tomorrow) option and it works great.

Had a 56" TV delivered that way in 2006.

Question 1: Who the fark needs to own 48 X?

Solve for X, where X = anything you want to feel self-righteous about.

2012-11-29 10:46:38 AM
Dont forget, amazon prime ALSO lets you "borrow" one book a month for free for kindle, and gives you access to lots of free movies and tv via their streaming app
