It's the polar opposite of delighting acid trip.

Honour (sic) killings very often involve mothers killing their daughters for inexcusable behaviour like "marrying the wrong man", "dating the wrong man", "looking at the wrong man" or "refusing to marry their elderly uncle". Hooray for the religion of peace.

I've done some farked up shiat to people who've crossed me. I also know first hand what an acid burn does to human flesh, and I wouldn't wish those scars on my worst enemy. There's nothing like it, it burns and burns and keeps you awake at night until you're pretty sure the sedatives are just going to farking kill you instead of let you sleep, and you don't care anymore because at least you won't have to deal with it come morning. Heroin or morphine takes the edge off the pain, but it still farking hurts and there's nothing you can do about it. I'm not proud of it, but I ended up selling the pain meds the doctor gave me to get stronger opiates. It's a damned good thing I don't have a taste for them, I was using heroin and morphine hard enough I ended up in withdrawals when the pain finally stopped. Half a year later. I still have trouble looking at the scar on my leg and that shiat happened because I farked up with a beaker, I can't even imagine a violent attack using an acid as a weapon. At least I can reason that I was the dumb ass that broke the vial, so it was my own damned fault. I can't even imagine what it would be like to be on the end of an attack that used a strong corrosive as a weapon.

To do that to someone's face intentionally... fark me, there's nothing in the world you could do to me to convince me that's a good punishment for... anything. You could rape and kill my mother and I wouldn't throw acid in your face. No one deserves that, not even the cocksucker who did it. He may be in need of a bullet behind the ear, but NO ONE deserves that pain. I can't even fathom... fark.

FTA: ""He threatened me and beat me a few nights back," she told film-makers for global charity VSO.
She added: "People would think a husband would take care of a blind wife. But this doesn't happen. This is how my days go by."

I'm pretty tame now that I'm a bit older, but I want someone to kill this man. Not a farking revenge killing, no gore porn or bullshiat fantasies, just put a farking pistol at the base of his skull, angle it up, and make him dead. He's not a farking human, he needs to be eliminated like any other dangerous animal. fark me, we might do a hell of a lot of farked up shiat to each other as humans(and I've been a happy part of that tradition, I'm no saint) but there are limits.

My heart goes out to this woman. I can't imagine the pain she went through and to have this happen to her after the attack... I really hope someone in the position to make it right has a pistol and a conscience, but that's just wishful thinking. I"m not sure I've ever actually wished death on someone before, but I honestly hope someone douses that bastard in gasoline and lights him on fire. In public. To do that to another human, regardless of the relationship... fark.

/I'm going to go get drunk and look at cute subtitled pictures of cats.
//fark me, I'm an ocean away but I'd gladly cut that farker's throat open. I have a straight razor on my desk he wouldn't even feel until he bled out.
///probably better to go look at some cats and not get too worked up about shiat I have nothing to do with.
////I'm gonna go do that, this story makes me sick to my stomach, but there's not a damned thing I can do about it.

From the article:
Violence against women is endemic in Bangladesh - and acid attacks are common, affecting thousands like Nurbanu.

So I guess it happens a lot.

When your culture treats women like chattel and systematically renders them incapable of living independently through withholding of education and career opportunities, don't be surprised when they're mistreated and rendered vulnerable as family burdens to be bought or sold.

anyone interested in going on a little "dexter" trip??
the husband and his mother need to win the lottery!!
I am certain that you could lure them away from the wife and the kids.
It would probably only take $100 US or so.

I am not saying that they should be dextered, but they should be dextered.

It's a verb now.

We can also accept "Michonned" and "Carled".

That's a half measure that'll guarantee she's beaten to death either right then or the next day or so.

Never EVER threaten to kill someone who would kill you because you've given them notice of escalation.

I suspect that if the husband and the mother-in-law got even the slightest inkling that an outsider was trying to spirit her away to a better life they'd have her killed in a heartbeat. And they'd get away with it, too.

Also, look at what this woman has already sacrificed to stay in contact with her sons*. I doubt that she'd leave them behind. They're probably the only thing keeping her from suicide at this point.

Your heart is in the right place, but sadly there's nothing that any Westerner can do about this. What are we going to do? Boycott Bangladeshi exported goods? All that the place produces is natural disasters and human misery, anyway. Cut off aid to one of the poorest countries in the entire world? That won't work either.

/* I do find myself wondering if she has daughters as well, but simply didn't mention them because even she has internalised the vile misogyny that permeates this entire sorry scenario

Greta_VanHouten: jjorsett: Prey4reign: Greta_VanHouten: Poor woman. I hope some human rights group will be able to take her to some western nation where she'll get medical care and be kept safe. Someone should throw acid on the mother in law who bailed out her scumbag son.

Proposing an horrific solution to an horrific act doesn't really advance us as a people.

Are we really sure about that? If appropriate and certain retaliation resulted every time one of these acts was perpetrated, don't you think that most people would conclude the crime wasn't worth the cost to themselves? I'd count it as advancing ourselves as a people if it cut down on the number of women burned in the face with acid or subjected to an honor killing.

I also believe that an "eye for an eye" approach is sometimes the only way certain cultures/people will ever understand or develop a sense of empathy.

Empathy and a healthy fear of consequences, are two different things.

I still agree with you though.

This happened in a country where the justice system is very much based on an eye for an eye. Doesn't seem to be doing much good. I think a better standard of living and education would go a lot farther.

nytmare: Do these third-world freaks keep acid lying around to throw at potential home invaders? Science experiments? Hunting? Or do they keep a flask handy just to throw at any woman who crosses them. Why is it so common to have a barrel of acid handy to toss around in the heat of passion?

You can buy muriatic by the gallon in every major city in America with not a whit given. They use it for cleaning concrete and it's available in every hardware store Want sulfuric acid? Go to an automotive place. Many will sell it as battery acid.

Either way, 3-5 bucks and you'll have more than enough.

Flouric acid is especially nasty in that it kills the cells quickly and will cause them to slough off hours after even though you'll feel no pain. No clue on where to get that stuff. Mail-order at least.

Proposing an horrific solution to an horrific act doesn't really advance us as a people. On the other hand only handing out one year sentences for the horrific act doesn't really advance us much as a people either.

I was thinking exactly that. The fact that this planet apparently has a need for an Acid Survivors Foundation makes me want to gather up the decent folks so we can cut out losses and leave, and salt the earth as we flee.

yes, yes, yes!
