No one but her thought these were Macs and there is no conspiracy theory. I don't even use a Mac and instantly knew they weren't Macs. It's a prop piece so everything looks right on TV and nothing more. I can't believe someone is getting paid to write this bullshiat..

I wonder what the comments look like.

So they deceive the audience in the products they use, in wonder what other deceptive tactics they deploy.... #doyourownhomework

So, BusinessInsider doesn't understand the idea of not giving a company free advertising on a news program?

I am not shocked.

Er, "Him".. Scumbag autocorrect.

Mac, Windows, Chrome Book, does not matter.
They are reading text scrolling prompts. Any POS can do that.

I'm honestly not sure what the fark the article author is talking about....

Heck, even my company puts shells on our hardware to cover the other product logo. The concept of covering other logos with your own is as old as advertising itself.

Plus... he has a chance to check out this:

And he's worried about the laptops?

Oh yeah.. Silver laptops are AAALLL Macs. Yeah sure, right on.

I was about to say, I can't think of any other aluminum colored metal colored laptops the same hue as a mac.

2012-11-28 03:24:14 PM
With that setup, they can have any brand or type of laptop behind them, and the set will look the same.

by using those set pieces, it frees them from having to worry about hardware changes effecting the look of the show.

I don't know if they have guests on that show, but if they do, it allows the guest to bring and use their own laptop and it won't make the set look different.

It also avoids any brand name from being seen ever.

/Apple does not have a patent on the white rectangle with a logo on the back.

But would you pick a shell that looks distinctively like a specific brand of laptop?

2012-11-28 03:32:46 PM

Telos: But would you pick a shell that looks distinctively like a specific brand of laptop?

I'd pick a shell that would look good on camera.

The black and grey backs of a Dell would draw the eye away from the presenter. White is far less offensive.

2012-11-28 03:37:47 PM
So, nobody said they were Macs, nobody really cared or thought they were, now it's a huge revelation to one sadly mistaken idiot who went on the set and discovered that the director likes the look of silver rather than black laptops.

My whole universe just changed! What an enlightening reveal that wasn't!

So is the author saying the type of people who watch CNBC would be duped into buying Macs just because the anchors look like they're using them? I think CNBC has a slightly more intelligent demographic than that, but whatever.

Oh my god, cnbc is never going to get asked to the prom now! Daily fail is snickering behind its camera lens under the girls bathroom stalls, fox news is spreading a rumor and shaving the gay kids head, and world net daily is being arrested for threatening to blow up the prom.

styckx: No one but her thought these were Macs

I... uh... don't know about that.

2012-11-28 04:02:44 PM
The real fail here is that people assume they're using macs. Is that because apple people are so douchey they think everyone is a secret apple fanboi? Kind of like gay people think everyone is gay and just denying it?

The Slush: This may be the stupidest linked article I have ever seen on Fark

You must be busier than me, in the last month I've opened at least 3 links to worse content and premise.
/yes this one was bad. The author probably makes her boyfriend's head hurt and should return to sammich duty.

2012-11-28 05:45:52 PM
Um, this has nothing to do with trying to look like Apples. It's about lighting. The Dell's are non-widescreen, but the silver cases are, to accommodate the LED panels on either side. (See pic #2). It's a great trick for taking out neck wrinkles on HD- just bounce up a little light off the desk. No vast conspiracy- just set design.

2012-11-28 05:47:18 PM
They look like Macbooks because CNBC has disguised them by adding gray lids, along with some CNBC branding where the Apple logo might have been.

Yes, cleverly disguised as the most common color for laptops since long before Apple even had one, marked in the way that all laptops have been stickered by default since the 1980s. How very sinister and devious.

And not one single fark was given.

2012-11-28 08:30:29 PM
Heh, they put set lighting behind the facades? That's actually really clever. On one hand, the color choice sort of evokes Apple... but it matches the other part of the desk that's the exact same color and Apple hardly owns "aluminum colored," in the first place.

Why does anyone care?

/Seriously though, the lighting is a nice trick.

Yes, browsing the internet for AP articles, and using skype must require horse loads of video card megapixels.

For no really good reason whenever I see a person using an Apple product, I pretty much know they are a tool and lacking in intelligence.

And when I meet them I find that I am rarely wrong in this perspective.

Or they are old.

My parents love macs, and by extension, I love them to. So much less tech support work.

Wow, a $40 laptop cover and $20 worth of engraving (got it on SWMBOs last laptop). Didn't know we were trying to be Apple. Though we got a blue cover instead.
