Um, subby? It says that they are NOT recommending "adverse information reports" at this time, and that the issue is under review.

2012-11-28 10:58:29 AM
I wish.

The linked story says the exact opposite of the headline.

Yeah, the way it is all "precise" and "accurate" and shiat. What do they think this is, 1956?

I am disappoint, but only because I think actually doing it or at least giving those bozo's a stern talking to and threatening to do so would be 7 different kinds of awesome.

The problem is is that the people of the United States dont speak that kind of English.

Could have many job openings coming up.

2012-11-28 11:07:06 AM
I'm confused, subby. This information is only applicable to contractors, who are granted their clearances through DSS and not the gov't personnel who are cleared through DoD or DoE (or whomever).

Way to NOT RTFA. Why is this green?

They're trying to decide whether signing a petition is sufficient or must it be combined with a Fark handle to complete the deal.

I will argue passionately that Texas exiting the union would be good for the remaining members at my upcoming trial.

I don't get it. Is this one of those "stop liking what I don't like" meme things? Or is it the "so here's a picture of a bunny with a pancake" meme things?

More stop liking, or more bunny? Please clarify.

Signed one of those petitions for your state to secede from the United States?

How many people signed one asking for another state to leave?

2012-11-28 11:11:03 AM

BitwiseShift: They're trying to decide whether signing a petition is sufficient or must it be combined with a Fark handle to complete the deal.

Signing a petition to secede should call into question your security clearance. A review of that persons credentials might be a good idea, but on it's own shouldn't lead to a revoked clearance.

2012-11-28 11:11:16 AM
How many people signed that petition as a joke? I would love to see Obama address the issue, because I could use the laugh.

A lot of us do. The rest should, but that's a different conversation.

Perhaps they should put out a text-speak version....?

Actually, it says that the issue is under review and that they will let you know how they decide to handle it. Subby jumped out there but its not settled, yet.

Way to get my hopes up, subby. I was this close to getting the neo con basterd co worker deported to Somalia.

Somalia, neo con basterd. I'm telling you that you'll love it there. No taxes. No government oversight. They say that if you believe in your neo con heart, the ghost of Ronald Reagan rises up from a special, enchanted sand dune once a year and calls someone "Gipper".

Irregardless of what the document says. We ought to restrict security clearances of anyone associated with the secession movement or other tea party terrorist organizations.

Given the article despite what the headline said, I'm convinced subby is Wolf Blitzer.

What if I signed a petition for YOUR state to secede?

2012-11-28 11:15:11 AM
People that sign such petitions are expressing their frustration with the results of the election. They (other than a very few crazies) no more wish to have their state secede than they are willing to move to Canada or some other country.

I did, I don't like how Florida resembles a dick with trickle coming out and Kentucky is just a bunch of methlabs waiting to explode.

It should call it into question, hence why the linked page said that the DSS had been receiving inquiries about whether or not signing those petitions is grounds for paperwork which would cause somebodies clearance to be reviewed.

However, as the page also stated, official policy on whether or not such a signature to a petition is grounds for an adverse report is not decided yet.

For now, at this moment, it isn't.

Honestly, if these petitions and this so-called seccesion movement just peter out and fizzle away in the next couple of months, yeah, it will probably just drop.

If Teabaggers and their ilk keep talking about seccesion and leaving the Union, and it's more than a very passing fad, yeah, then it's almost certainly Goodbye Clearance (and I'm imagining some choice openings in nice MOS's from some soldiers who probably signed them).

I'm guessing that most Farkers who don't live in Florida have signed the Florida petition.

2012-11-28 11:17:32 AM
Its been a while since I had mine, but I was pretty sure one of the questions asked when getting clearance was along the lines of "have you ever advocated overthrow or secession from the federal government"

As silly as the online things are, I think putting your name on one would count.

Subby, are you just learning to read? At this time, previously cleared personnel, who have signed a petition do not require an adverse information report be filed. The DSS is still reviewing the issue and more guidance will come later. In other words, forget about it and carry on.

if you signed it, you shouldn't benefit from any federal government program and can no longer wrap yourself in a flag and call yourself a patriot.

I should start a petition...

So being an internet troll and not being smart enough to put in the wrong name and address while trolling can get you in trouble at work? Who knew.
