yeah. my kid said that was perfectly safe... (yeah i know listening to a 20 year old is my own fault). about a week after i started taking it, i started to develop this really bad ache between my shoulder blades, i was having dysrhythmia's when i was trying to sleep, and i was really tired...

after being in denial for a few days, i went in and got checked out. basically it was giving me the symptoms of a heart attack, and causing abnormal heart rhythyms, exaserbating my heart murmur.

Farking green tea everywhere.

Need to run to the store and get some more, it's like chilled crack distillate.

Okay, you've sufficiently un-smugged yourself. Nice use of profanity, sound effects, lack of capitalization for proper nouns, and intentionally poor grammar to prove that you're really just a down-to-earth kind of guy. Hell, you even made me want to try a bottle of that green tea stuff. You should have been Romney's campaign advisor!

A challenger appears.

I really, really hate the notion that Jager is stronger than whatever else. It's a tasty liqueur (well, if you like licorice), and not much more. 70 proof and sweetened. It will actually fark you up LESS than whiskey or any other serious hard liquor, which is always gonna be 80 proof or higher. A lot of gins and some rums are made at 92 or 94 proof, which is the traditional navy proof, for reasons I won't go into here. You want to really get farked up on licorice flavored whatever? Try asbinthe,or pernod, the version without wormwood from when our government went nuts thinking that the trace amounts of thujone somehow made a difference- they don't. Often bottled at ridiculous strengths, though you're supposed to water and sugar it down to your preferred strength and sweetness. But we're talking about a product routinely bottled at around 75% ABV (more than twice the strength of jager)- if you wanted to get really hammered, it wouldn't be a chore.

The whole frat boy myth that Jager is some super strong whatever liquor is just crap. It's stronger than some of the other liqueurs you find drunk at parties (a lot of people seem to buy schapps or whatever not noticing they're only 15% ABV, which is 30 proof, and thinking they're serious spirits), but although you may think you're being a big stud by doing two shots of Jager, that guy sipping a good old gin martini is drinking more alcohol than you are. And it is just the alcohol- there aren't any magic drugs or compounds in Jager that will do anything out of the ordinary to you- it's just the ethanol. Though the sugar might give you a high.

It's not the ABV that makes jäger popular. Like Absinthe, it has a mythical reputation which is why it's popular.

Jäger has a weird effect for me -- it's one of the alcohols I can still drink when I've "had enough" of others. Presence or Absence of Red Bull doesn't change it.

I'd almost say I can't get drunk on Jäger, but that wouldn't make sense. But I hung out with some Jäger-sponsored bands and after a night of drinking pretty much everything but Jäger, I could still have a couple of shots of it without going off the deep end.

Martinis will tank you quicker and harder than Jaeger, but people tend to sip a Martini, not just toss it back.

The problem witgh Jaeger drinkers is that they will do 4-5 shots or bombs in an hour chased with three beers, or a couple of mix drinks. So it is a recipe for a quick drunk, and when you get hammered quickly, especially when mixed with red bull, then that makes for one crazy drunk fark.

So it is not the Jaeger, just the quantity in a small period of time.

I drink double ketels and soda, with a shot of patron on the side. So a drink every 20 minutes. So I ease into my inebration.

Jaeger is all about the hype.

For those that don't like standard Japanese green tea, I recommend searching out a looseleaf Chinese green tea. They have more of a nutty flavor, usually chestnut or almond, with a natural sweetness, and I've found that the majority of people who don't enjoy the "cuddy" flavor of Japanese green tea really love the Chinese version.
