Also, "Torture Organ" would be a great name for a punk rock band.

I have a friend who worked at Time for many years, so I asked him how they ended up choosing their Person of the Year. He said they totally ignored all the "public input" etc and instead just had the guys on the board go into a room where they chose the most controversial yet borderline plausible person they could cause that sells more issues.

So more or less what you'd expect, really.

Any time they choose a group of people it's a cop-out.

That's what I posited in the last thread about this (so this one will probably be shut down). They usually pick someone controversial and go out of their way to explain that it doesn't mean "Best person of the year".

More or less. If it doesn't have specific names (like the year it was the South Africans & Israelis), it's just one of those cutesy things. The mirror was easily the worst one.

Not to say it doesn't have my interest, but it's still kinda dumb.

I contend that since that mirror was at head-height, Walter was right. The big Lebowski walks.

Sounds like the method that they use on "Dancing With the Stars".

Ah, but is it meant *for* the Big Lebowski, or is it meant for donors/proteges, etc. who are trying to suck up to him?

Russia was fighting for the Allies at the time. Besides, they chose Hitler twice. It's not necessarily for positive accomplishments.
