liam76: the difficulty of rich people getting into heaven

minor point, what the guy said was "kingdom of heaven" which was more like a government on Earth and not a place out in space. The whole "people go to Heaven as a reward and Hell as a punishment" thing didn't enter Christianity until it merged with the Mystery religion.

What's the point of going to school in Kentucky when the kids will just end up writing sentences like:

FTA: Gilbert said Baker continues to teach, and that she is not satisfied with the district's response..

Jim_Callahan: liam76: Jesus said a lot more about helping the poor, the difficulty of rich people getting into heaven, then talking about gays (whom he never explicitly condemned).

No idea where these farktards get this stuff.

The bible. Paul, mostly. It's hard to discard the bits about gays (and a few other choice ethnic and behavioral groups seemingly picked more or less at random) being evil because it's closely tied to the post-resurrection miracles and books of the new testament, and if you throw those out you also lose, among other things, the bit where god removed the requirement that you be Jewish before you become Christian. Plus a lot of the bits allowing there to be a church in the first place.

So if you want to be a Christian without having to marry into a Jewish family first (it's not the easiest religion in the world to join), and you like eating bacon and there being organized churches beyond informal gatherings, you're stuck with the version of Christianity that has passages decrying gay and premarital sex, i.e. the ones that easily can justify wanting to make sodomy illegal and deny birth control to unmarried women.

//There were at one point denominations of Christianity that weren't part of the councils at Nicea that formalized the contents of the new testament, but I don't think any of them are around anymore, though the occasional masonic lodge will pretend to be one for the usual "seeming more mysterious 'n' shiat" reasons. Even Protestants that don't fully hold to, say, the Nicene creed typically still respect the council's Selection of texts.

I am not saying you have to throw them out, I am saying push comes to shove what Jesus said should trump what Paul said as being more important for christians.

A friend of mine has a bumper sticker he put on his car that says "The only problem with baptists is they don't hold them under longer." He routinely has people yelling at him. I bore witness to it one day as we were standing in a parking lot talking and an older gentleman in a van drove up and asked in a rhetorical way, "Is that a hate crime?" The latest hit was his rear right tail light was mysteriously smashed out.

Probably not the smartest thing to make himself a target like that. Still, I don't believe he has ever yelled at anyone or vandalized their property based on an absurd bumper sticker.

That line reminds me of this Christian radio show I heard a number of years ago. My wife and I were driving in PA, surfing the radio dial for something to listen to, and we came upon a Christian "kids" show with a catchy little number playing. I don't know what the actual title was, but the chorus went,

"You can make a soup from a chicken, but you can't make a chicken from soup!"

The rest of the lyrics were standard Young Earth Creationist babble, but man, it had to be one of the funniest songs I have ever heard. I've searched everywhere to find a copy of it.

Well, I see you're applying for the psychology teaching position.

Yes. As a good Republican, I want to teach Republican psychology in a Republican class and a Republican school.

I see. Fine. And your degree in teaching is from.

Republican University, the Ronald Reagan School of Psychology

Both: All Hail Ronald Reagan! He can do no wrong as he walks among us still!

Very nice. Sadly, I must admit we have some of them in our school.

Blacks?

No.

Mehicanos?

No.

Underachieving drooling retards?

Well, this is Kentucky, so yeah. But I'm talking about Democrats. We have some children who align themselves to the Democratic Party in this school.

Really?

Yes.

No. I mean, really? This is 2012.

Well their parents get free stuff from the government. Money, cell phones, food. All they do is sit around watching free cable TV and breed.

Oh them. Well, none of their demon spawn would be smart enough to get through psychology. Plus they'll never get in to Heaven.

Oh no. They'll get in to a private college before they'll ever get in to Heaven.

Ha ha ha

Quite. Ha ha ha. So, you'll take the job?

Sure. I can't wait to teach all those young Republicans about psychology.

You know, you'll have to tell them that psychology is a "Black Art" like Medicare.

Of course. Republicans are smart enough to see through all this hokey. Jesus made them what they are. In his image and he wants them to have most of the stuff.

You know? You're pretty hot in that business suit and high heels.

And I was just drooling over you and that nearly not there skirts and transparent blouse.

Wanna do some teacher on teacher teaching?

I'll proctor.

This was my reaction to it as well. It is a good question to use to judge a person's political leanings.

Nope. Not an experiment:

TFA: During the classroom discussion, Baker made remarks in class against same-sex marriage, Gilbert said. Chelsea Gilbert, an admirer of Obama, told Baker she was offending people, Mary Gilbert said. There are gay students in the class, Mary Gilbert said. She said Baker responded by telling Chelsea she would someday have to take her parents to the emergency room and watch them die because of the president's health care reform law, commonly called Obamacare. The exchange upset Chelsea, who came home crying, Gilbert said.

Any quality teacher using this as a social experiment wouldn't respond to "I'm offended." with "Well, Obama will kill your parents!". They would talk about why people become offended.

TFA: Baker said she had heard the line from a student, and that it was one of her new favorite quotes, Gilbert said.

Also, it's Kentucky.

Did she believe there would be no repercussions? And if she believed there would be no repercussions, isn't she too farking stupid to be a teacher?

/WTF? on so many levels

She believes that Real Muricans are all secretly united. That they are a huge majority. That the election was a fraud. That she has to help trigger The Great Uprising.

2012-11-28 08:29:20 AM
Reprimand the teacher, there's not much reason in defending her in it. Though it is funny to see people jumping all over it like it's the worst thing she could possibly be doing. Meanwhile we have entire school systems nationwide providing children with the mindset that everything they do is perfectly alright regardless of the results, that if they're ever criticized for their words or actions that the critic is always wrong, that if you're smarter or stronger than others you will only ever attain the same accolades as those dumber and weaker, and that the system will defend you at every transgression. These kinds of policies then allow and promote immediate OMG GO DIAF response to anyone with opinions opposed to the current direction of momentum. While I don't want to see a completely Spartan fight or die system I think we've gone much too far into babying our babies. Resolve is just as important as reason.

2012-11-28 08:29:58 AM
Considering 90% of teachers and college professors are liberals who have a great platform of indoctrination to work with; I'm getting a kick out of how badly they foam at the mouth when they realize they let one slip through the cracks.
