DubyaHater: Horticulture and Golf Course Management are not difficult majors.

I'd actually imagine there's a lot more to both than you think. A lot of football players are kinesiology or communications majors. Criminal justice and education also seem to be pretty common. Incidentally not many are pure liberal arts majors; for all the mockery that degree gets, it's an awful lot of reading.

On Senior Day (at least at my alma mater) you get to hear the seniors' majors; when you come across that rare, true "student-athlete" it's hilariously obvious.

"Communications. . . Communications. . . Criminal Justice. . . Kinesiology. . . Criminal Justice. . . Biochemical Engineering" (whole crowd goes WTF)

needing overtime to beat a pitt who previously lost badly to a 1-aa school
beating mighty mighty purdue by 3 (boil up!)
being bailed out by the officials on stanford's 4th down non-touchdown
beating might might byu and their stellar offense by 3 (mission down! or something...)
facing a usc team without barkley and that is coached by a retarded tard
playing a michigan team that hadn't yet realized that denard was running back, not a quarterback

As somebody who ruined people's lives at Notre Dame by handing out B's and even A-'s.... yeah, you have a point.

Granted, they were all pre-meds and most of them shouldn't be doctors. It was my job to give them the B that would mean they were falling behind their classmates and probably wouldn't get the top spots in med school and should probably transfer to business or law.*

They do. However the original assertion was that ND is acting like they already won. The multiple actions OP asserts do not support that conclusion. Rather they indicate that a team is still playing to get to the national championship.

Meh. I'm not sure I agree 100% with your police work there, Lou.

I kind of like TMQ, but I have to agree that there are a lot of times he goes completely off the rails (his criticisms of TV shows, repeating the 72 Miami Dolphins item knowing that it is untrue, violence in movies and TV, etc.)

What's really needed is for someone with talent to break down his columns on a weekly basis, sort of like KSK's "Fun With Peter King".

They have strict disciplinary code and high academic standards. You can't defend the country by taking underwater basket weaving. I competed against them and every so often they'd lose top recruits because they didn't like the structure and such.

Goddamn that place is beautiful though.

The thing that everyone is forgetting is that Notre Dame is playing in the National title game. They may win, they may lose. But they're undefeated and playing in the National title game. How is it so hard to tip your hat to an undefeated team that's playing in the National title game? They undefeated. And also, they're playing in the National title game.

Undeservedly. They aren't even in a BCS conference for football - which means they don't play the same caliber of schedule as a Florida, who should go.

Actually I don't celebrate that because I have long since given up on the facade of the "student" athlete at big time football factories.

If the players don't care about graduating, and the schools are fudging their standards (or outright cheating...UNC...) to get good players, and the Presidents are conference hopping chasing after TV money with no regard for academics then why the hell should I care if they graduate the players? Doesn't matter in the slightest if ND graduates all of its players or none.

/screw ND, how can they possibly still have their own TV contract decades after any merit based relevance?
//SEC v. ND for the "championship" of college football? We all lose.

When ND beats Alabama or GA their local jail cells will be full from the influx of domestic abuse that will ensue.
