Meh....seen faster.

www.safarisamblog.com

Saw a BIG peregrine up close on the beach in South Texas a couple of weeks ago. Probably picking off migratory shorebirds.

Awesome. Lots of time in the air, even considering the cat was shoving off like 10 times a second. I'd like to see that first 1.85 second section in slo-mo and then again at full speed immediately after, just for a better sense of what actually went down. Also, the distance covered at the supposedly 60 mph would've been nicer for me to know than what camera was used at how many fps.

The outstretched paw with fully extended claws trying to snag the bait was my favorite part.

The 8 billion scripts I had to enable over the course of 4 different page refreshes to see the video on that poorly coded webpage were my least favorite parts. I rather enjoy the content those guys have on their various sites, but they go out of their way to discourage my perusal of them.

ABQGOD: John Buck 41: The last :90 of credits and backslapping was well done

//eyeroll

///actual vid of the cheetah was cool

I liked both parts. I was fascinated by how much production went into producing the cheetah clips.

The video from above showing a cheetah running at normal speed was very interesting in comparison.

I feel bad for the poor fool who had to pull the string.

And can you believe I had to enable HTML before stuff would even show up? Wow, I mean, how dumb are those guys!

Its amazing how fulfilling that was on both an emotional and scientific level.

After watching that, how can anyone dispute the existence of a Supreme Being, unless of course that was a streetlamp that was being filmed.

If that's your proof, I'm a little miffed at him for not letting me run like that. And having a cool airbrake/rudder tail.

and not having spots. 'Cause the spots are cool.

j/k, please no G-d flamewarz.
Nice kitteh.

prjindigo: "stunning" lol

farking children writing web articles while masturbating in public.

I've seen a slow-mo video of a cheetah closing on prey at about 50mph, the prey didn't move. The cheetah snagged it, tore if off the ground breaking the prey's stuck leg and did a tumble, the prey arched into the air as the cheetah and it tumbled downrange a bit and the cheetah recovered enough to pounce back on the prey and kill it.

like the best cat attack video out there on the web... and it was 1986

lol

farking children masturbating on the web like everything is so new.

Do you have a link?

To the cat video, I mean. Not the children masturbating.

It really is impressive how much ground goes by between when the hind paws pull up to when they touch down again.

Fascinating... the statement works both ways except one has supporting evidence!

Oh, so I guess it's just me that has problems with their site then. Go fark yourself.

Not at all. There's plenty of people here who disable standard web-browser functionality and then complain when the web doesn't work right. I mean, take Fark itself for example: it looks like ass with CSS disabled, but if I turned it on and brought my browser into line with 1996, what would I complain about in meta posts?

Oh, I'm sure you'd be able to find something to be a passive-aggressive dick about.

What I learned from this video:

All cats love balls of fluff on a string:)

They should have had the cheetah chase a real animal and not a Tribble.

My layman's guess is that they needed control over the run for the setup they were using.

I read on the internet somewhere that they're only good for about a 15 second burst of speed. If they go too much faster than that, their internal temperature gets so high, they'll croak.
