Carreon is one of those people who wouldn't do well in post apocalyptic society.

inglixthemad: Great Porn Dragon: FormlessOne: BlackPete: After reading the headline, I was expecting Jack Thompson or even Orly Taitz. I've never heard of this guy.

Anyone want to do a tl;dr version of who this guy is?

This guy got his ass handed to him by The Oatmeal. Repeatedly. He tried to pull the usual shyster intimidation shiat, got called out for it, and so he kept escalating it, each time getting his ass handed to him until he finally withdrew his spurious lawsuits and walked away. The trouble is, of course, that thanks to the persistence of the Internet, his name is essentially mud and he's become fodder for satirists.

Why this guy hasn't been disbarred is beyond me.

I think with that stunt with refusing service...if he hadn't walked himself into a disbarment hearing before, he may well have now; at least one of the lawyers for Recouvreur is in fact Larry Flynt's old attorney when Jerry Falwell was suing him over the infamous "Peroni Outhouse Sex Parody", and both of them are smart enough that I think they'd be talking with the judge re sanctions on Carreon.

I'm not so sure. How much havoc did Thompson have to cause to lose his license?

In July 2008, Thompson was permanently disbarred by the Florida Supreme Court for inappropriate conduct, including making false statements to tribunals and disparaging and humiliating litigants.[8][9]

Yeah, he had to reach pretty ridiculous levels of asinine behavior before being disbarred. Heck, he even challenged the Florida Bar directly.

Yeah, but... this is Florida we're talking about here. It has its own Fark tag. Now granted, Arizona sorta does as well, but they're known more for being gun-toting racist assholes. This guy being a complete and utter whiny pussy in their state I can't see ending very well for him.

Jack Thompson, old school internet lawyer hate? Please.

I got one of the original Cantor and Siegal green card spam emails. I've been hating internet lawyers since before half of you were born.

Do they not have substitutional service in the US/Arizona?

Up here (Alberta), I've (or know someone that has) served people through facebook, a notice in a community centre, and an ad in the local newspaper.

Someone being a tool about service? *Boom* ex parte application for substitutional service, or to have service declared effective--which apparently happened, but far too late. Some of the delay seems like a failing of counsel.
