Why a rooster on the podium, though?

Nezu Chiza: I don't see how anyone could think he meant to compare Obama with Jesus. After all, Jesus was Ronald Reagan, and the conservatives would NEVER compare Obama to Jesus in that fashion.

Ahem,
Reagan was the Trinity, The father, the Son, and the Holy Raygun.

I see no one crucified in the picture. Nor do I see a cross. This must be some political bias goggles in use which apparently actually do something.

I like to think I'm living through the biggest piece of satire ever perpetuated upon a nation right now. You aren't actually taking the Obama administration seriously, are you?

Here is a list of couple hundred of Obama's achievements. Link

The only thing funny about them is the GOP butthurt that resulted.

Let's assume that Obama is a complete joke (somehow) despite all the evidence to they contrary. Who do you hold up as an example of a President (or Presidential Administration) being more serious, more mature than his?

I burst out laughing when I noticed the soldier eating the gay wedding cake. He came to the wedding, so obviously he supports the couple. And he's prepared to fight for them. He just doesn't care for fondant icing.

Hahaha and I just noticed the florescent light bulb. Which obviously means that Obama is against lampshades. Also, I gather that he's against golf.

Yeah, I know about the rollovers available on the artist's website, but a work of art has to stand on its own and he can't control the meanings I derive what he paints. Semiotics, biatches.

Do NOT compare this excrement to one of the greatest American artists of all time. If this can be classified as art, then so can the strippers, and I want my "private membership" fee back I had to pay to get in.

Real Good art* wouldn't need an explanation. The fact he has to explain what he means speaks volumes about the quality of his "statement".

*I think technically this McNaughton's crap qualifies as "art", just not very good art.

I think Jamie Fox is an idiot for plenty of other actually good reasons.

And I tend to think less of people who don't intrinsically understand that most things that come out of a comedian's mouth- particularly when he's "on the job" is intended as humor- an endeavor that usually involves storytelling devices such as "farce".

And no, I don't think it's funny either. See the first sentence.

Remember when bad art was just...bad art? And, remember when we used to sneer at bad art for things like using really heavy-handed trolling masquerading as 'symbolism' about a controversial subject? We used to laugh at it because it was so obvious that the 'artist' had to resort to trolling in order to try to sell his/her work because clearly, this 'artist' had no talent and none of their work would never get any attention otherwise because it was bad art? Although, you always sort of secretly hoped that they ended up with some sort of job in advertising or something somewhere, because it does take talent to be a successful AW...just not the kind of talent that makes good art.

Yeah, me either.

Andres Serrano went on to a rather successful career that was somehow not marred by producing two album covers for Metallica, actually.

Just sayin'.

SkunkWerks: Andres Serrano

See? He got marketing work!

Actually, I'm the first to admit I can't go there. I know little to nothing about Andres Serrano's work because I am completely grossed out. Is it bad art? I don't know -- too squicked out by Andres Serrano to see past the gross-out factor.

However, that goofy painting of Obama with the heavy-handed religious symbolism...that's just bad art. I'm not afraid to say it!

So is Hannity's new painting. *snerk!* You know it has deep symbolism because there's a hidden word in there!

You know, it's not often that you run into something that a bit of hipster irony might have helped, but I think we have two examples right chere!

Bad art can serve a purpose sometimes. Execution's more than a little bit important though. I don't think this toes the mark there either. For instance, I find the artist's statement about not meaning to represent him as Christ kinda confused. He goes on to state that he was lampooning the Right's frequent accusations that the Lefties think of him as God.

It's an attempt at farce which pretty much relies entirely on representing Obama as Christ, however.

So why you'd go and say that wasn't your intention (presumably because it isn't the "penultimate" explanation for the message you were attempting to relay) is, well, schizo. And if he was just trying to explain the "joke", well...

Tuesdae: You know it has deep symbolism because there's a hidden word in there!

Worse is the implication that the Right's concept of "subtlety" amounts to what is essentially a magic eye painting of the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: if you look hard enough for it, you will find it.

I actually like it as well. Some of the imagery is a bit far fetched, but it's kind of interesting to look at.

On a related note, is that Airforce One flying into the UN building in the upper right corner? What exactly is he trying to say? lol

Well, I don't like to generalize, or paint with a broad brush, so I'll just say this. Every single republican alive today enjoys having sex with chickens. Roosters work, too. It could be jealousy of his ability to procure the best poultry.

Or, as I suspect, the artist feels a bit insecure, so he rages at Obama's extremely large rooster.

For a community college, it's really good. It has some really great professors, and you're better off going here for your first two years to save money, then transfer most or all of your credits to UMass for your Bachelor's.
