Damnitsomuch. After the whooping SF gave us last night I can clearly see there will be no Saints post season. Especially since they are playing ATL in ATL on Thursday :(

With the machine preset for home team victories and the Browns winning out, I was able to get them an 8-8 record and a playoff appearance. How's that for chaos?

People, people, the Great TieBreaker SpreadSheet will be in tomorrow's power rankings thread. I'll be sure to mention all the silly things that could still happen.

/I have a few bucks on Houston at 6-to-1 which seems eminently reasonable.

Yeah, but then I can't have 3 from the AFC South and Miami make it. I think the problem is I ran up against tiebreakers with NE quickly, and I didn't want them in, or SF. The NE-SF game swung a lot. There was another one too I think that changed like 5 positions from a single game.

Everybody lost. Which is the only bright side of "we could've been #6 with a win over the Niners yesterday." Pissing away a golden chance to jump from #9 to #6 with one win sucks, but they can still make it. Step 1 - Chicago is our best friend in the world right now, they play Seattle and Minnesota the next two weeks. This week's potentially a great opportunity to move up too - as I said Seattle's in Chicago, Tampa Bay is in Denver, and Minnesota is in Green Bay. Washington is now in play, as they were the only one of our big bunch of 6th seed potentials to win in Week 12, and they have the tiebreaker from Week 1, so root for the G-Men in DC. All of those are certainly possible results to happen this week.

Insofar as playing ATL in ATL, well, I'm as nervous as always with those dirty birds, but 11-2 don't lie. Neither does Atlanta potentially being without their starting cornerbacks in Samuel and Robinson. Keep your chin up, anything's possible, pray for Zach Strief's groin, who dat, etc.

It is kind of interesting to just set the preset to "higher team in the power rankings wins"; might make interesting fodder for tomorrow's thread.

Hell yes I'm serious. 9-7 Giants won the damn Super Bowl, and a few years ago, 9-7 Arizona* was about 90 seconds away from winning it. Can you imagine the lulz if an 8-8 or better yet, 7-9 team runs the table?

*infamously dubbed by Cris "I'm Not So Sure" Collinsworth as the "worst playoff team in history" before ragdolling either ATL (I was at that game) or the game that changed TF Football threads forever, the "Jake" game @ CARO.

will that ever stop hurting? Santonio's pass from Benny Roth never will.

If Aaron Francisco doesn't slip on that play. Man. If he only doesn't slip. He's on Santonio, and he would have handed him off to what's his name to have him doubled. instead, he (Holmes) had a route on air, the CB had him (that would have been doubled) needed late help from the S, and the S is the guy that juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust misses getting fingertips on the ball.

that will never stop hurting.

/or that g*d damned first half fumble return.

nevermind!

wasn't until bulldg4life's comment that yours made sense. wow. i would have sworn that never happened before.

that was the game where like, a day or so later my wife, who cares as much for football as i do ABC's "Revenge", texts me out the blue and says, "holy crap, i just saw that play where the seattle guy threw that other guy. it looked like a video game".

They'll probably sneak in to the playoffs just to provide the Giants a team missing 22 starters to whip up on.
