Stuff like this makes me wax philosophical about what a prank is vs a regular lie, and the nature of humor. Next place I work I'm going to tell them my name is Dave and then after years and year of everyone calling me Dave, I'll tell them it was a huge prank and my name really isn't Dave after all. So this guy was at his local community college, taking a Speech 101 class and, since he's a stand-up comedian or something and already feels comfortable with presentations, decided to blow off the class by talking in an accent the whole time and giving his speeches about stereotypically Mexican or obscure topics (piñatas, David Hasselhoff, and the history of 5 de Mayo). Now if he was trying to earn an Associate's degree and had to get through this course as a prerequisite, I can forgive some of the antics here. I took Speech 101 in community college too and also felt I didn't need it, nor did I improve my presentation skills from it, but I wasn't bored enough to make things up. Now, if he took the class just to "prank" a class, I would feel bad for him. However, it seems to have worked. Clearly getting a few thousand YouTube views and a bunch of fans for his Facebook page means it was totally worth it for him - and rather it makes me feel bad for our society, but that's nothing new.
