Wow, sales of the Panda Wars must be doing a lot worse than I thought.

GAT_00: Wow, sales of the Panda Wars must be doing a lot worse than I thought.

WoW's been around for 8 years. I'm sure it'll be around for another 10 (judging by the longevity of EverQuest), but it won't have the bajillioins of subscribers it has now.

Mists of Pandaria is just more of the same ol' WoW routine. Not that there's anything wrong with that, as I'm currently playing WoW. However, I can understand why some are a bit bored with it all.

I imagine that the vast majority of their sales have already happened already. If you're an avid player, you probably didn't want to sit around in Orgrimmar all day while their friends got all the new toys.

Then again, a bunch do just stand around Goldshire all day eRPing.

There are a lot better games for free.

I'm more annoyed with the alternating availability of certain grouped dailies for faction work. In order to get shiny pixel object 235, you have to grind rep with faction A in order to open the dailies for faction B and C. However, you have to get high ranks in all three to get item 235, but the dailies required to gain faction are only available for one of the three factions on a given day.

Most ridiculous time-sink ever.

It's a sale aimed at folks like me. I drifted off of WoW after finishing the ... IceWind Dale? The frozen north expansion. Every once in a while I consider rejoining, but the prospect of paying both a monthly fee and a significant price to get the expansion boxes keeps me away.

The monthly fee never bothered me. Considering the ridiculous amount of time I invest into the game, $15.00 a month is a deal.

Yes, I agree. Because Amazon screwed my order up, I got the game nearly a week after most of my friends. I am still playing catch-up with Golden Lotus (LW here, and I will just now hit Honored today to get my recipes). I got lucky a few times and got the item that gave me free rep, but I am still trying to figure out all that I have to do.

Oh, and not being able to fly in Pandaria until you hit 90 is BS. Has kept me from leveling my alts because I don't want to have to run and find mining/herb nodes.

/goes off to be a geek some more... oh better go do the Tillers now

I think anyone that gives a crap about that game has already bought it. Sorry Activision/Blizzard: You've created a lot of suck as of late.

Three questions.
1: Does a 50% off sale this soon after release mean that sales of the expansion suck?
2: Are you a sucker if paid full price?
3: Will we get banned for not sucking the d*ck of a sponsor?

How is tanking? Being a tank in Cata gave me the urge to kill people. So many people couldn't adjust to CCing and not breaking it. They thought it was still Lich King and you could just roll everything, which I'm sure you could once you were geared as opposed to a fresh 85 in greens.

I couldn't tell you. I completely skipped Cata. And I haven't even done so much as a 5-man dungeon in Mists as of yet.

Also for me, Cata was:

Ha-ha-guy's muscle memory to run his old tanking cycle vs Blizzard's ability changes and the need to run a new cycle. That wasn't a very fun game. I had years of muscle memory to drop consecrate as a Prot Pally and tank based on that, then they changed that all around.

/IIRC they also changed which AOE breaks CC and which doesn't
//no new mechanics though, just learning to hit different buttons

Everything in Pandaria is facepalm easy, it makes Lich King stuff look insanely difficult by comparison. Level 90 5 heroics for example are designed to be the same difficulty as regular dungeons (which at 90 you can no longer access). I don't know why they even call them heroic.

I played WOW since beta and just froze my account once the year commitment ended in October (at least I think it was October). Since then, I have been playing Guild Wars 2 and more recently Borderlands 2. It feels weird for a Mac guy to have more games to play than time to play them. I have not missed WOW at all.

So basically the game spoonfeds you the fancy gear? I figured as much when they said they were doing a PUG style thing for raids. If you can PUG a raid it must be real farking easy.

the expansion is good, very good (much better than cata) but if you are looking for something other than WoW, wait for darkfall: unholy wars 12-12-12. DF;UW might also be terrible, but there are NO other quality MMOs available right now, or even coming in 2013. its 2014+ until any new titles are close to release =(

2012-11-26 01:18:39 PM
My top gripes are a) dailies, farking dailes and b) no flying for alts before 90.

The cooking shiat is enough to drive sane people crazy. Not only is there overall cooking skill , there's 5 or 6 sub professions (of the wok, etc) AND NPC rep.

I started far later than my guildies (about a month ago) and I'm so far behind them, I'm not sure I'll ever catch up.

Why? $25 is still pretty expensive for a MMORPG - DreamWorks crossover.

Heroic Dungeons hardly offer the 'fancy gear.' And you might be referring to LF-Raid (Looking For Raid), which may be different from a PUG Raid. LFRaid's are a lot easier than regular raids, from what I hear. I think normal raids still hold at least some level of challenge for a devoted player.

I'm a huge supporter and gamer of WOW MoP.... which means I paid about $40.00 to get the limited edition mount for pre-purchasing the game for $59.95.

Oh well - ilev 474 and still loving this expansion. Not loving the reputation grind to get valor gear though.

Crackheads don't need to maintain rigorous schedules to satisfy the needs of their crack guilds. So it's much worse than being a crackhead.

I played WoW while I was depressed and unemployed. It was perfect then. Now, I'm employed, back in my hometown with an active social life, and a kid on the way.

If I want to play a "casual" MMO, I'll play Diablo 3, which has been markedly improved over the past few months.
