Cowell can go fark himself, that stupid hackneyed jackass.

"I think somebody should shoot Simon Cowell."

While I don't support shooting Cowell, Gore has some very good points there.

/I might support someone kicking Cowell in the throat until he can't speak anymore, but thats more of a "after a list of 1000 other people who need that before he does"

2012-11-26 09:00:01 AM
Simon, the total sum weirdness of Depeche Mode will never come close to matching the likes of Wonderdog.

2012-11-26 09:25:17 AM
there is nothing good about who you are or what you do, Simple Simon

"Soaring" gun violence? Last I checked crime of all types has been on the decline for, like, two decades.

2012-11-26 09:28:36 AM
Ooh, here's a brilliant idea... let's create a reality show where contestants actually hunt down and shoot Simon Cowell. We'll call it "A Question Of Time".

2012-11-26 09:29:13 AM
I also object to shooting Simon Cowell. Too quick. How about being strangled by a one-handed arthritic while being forced to listen to his karaoke game show winners' efforts?

2012-11-26 09:30:08 AM
Because people like the same things as he does? Smells like envy.

2012-11-26 09:31:04 AM
Read the entire tweet. Cowell can be a jackass, but "He was in depeche mode" was just meant to explain to his followers who this guy is. Granted, it was situated awkwardly between two sentences that should have been next to each other. A better way of wording it would have been "Martin Gore from Depeche Mode wants to shoot me. Does he realize how weird and stupid that makes him?"

2012-11-26 09:31:58 AM
And after getting wind of it, an angry Simon has hit back, claiming his comments are stupidly irresponsible in the wake of soaring gun crime in America.

Really? It still counts as 'soaring' when the rapid change is a decline?

I did not know this.

Good news, everyone, from 2007-2009 the economy was actually soaring!

Just look to Dimbag to see how someone would actually listen to someone saying shiat like this.

DM has influenced a ton of musicians and artists.

X-Factor has influenced attention whores.

The problem is....they're both right.

"His influence in the music industry over the last God knows how many years it's been now. It's just like, so many people think that that's what music is."

Gore continued: "What happened to bands getting together? They are very few and far between now and the ones that do probably can't afford to get into a studio and make a record."

AI sucks, and is indicative of everything laughable in the industry side of things, but how is it that you believe that bands aren't still being formed?

And to be fair, going into the studio and making a recordtm, has generally always been an expensive proposition, out of reach of most unsigned bands. Things are a bit different now, but there is still a bit of an investment on the part of the artist if he / she / they are seeking excellent results.

I don't see any lack of bands due to shows like AI, just an increase in the amount of easily-ignored terrible music on radio.

If you really want to get depressed about how things are done, read this (a bit of a lengthy article):

Dr. Girlfriend: Sweetie, isn't that the guy from Depeche Mode?
The Monarch: Oh no, wait, where? Holy crap, he's with a girl!
Dr. Girlfriend: Oh yeah, that guy is totally straight. I saw a whole thing about him on the VH1.
The Monarch: But he's the guy from Depeche Mode. That's impossible!
Dr. Girlfriend: Straight!
The Monarch: Come on! He's in Depeche Mode!

Fish in a Barrel: "Soaring" gun violence? Last I checked crime of all types has been on the decline for, like, two decades.

While that may be technically true, more importantly media coverage of crime is at an all-time high. So the perception of higher crime is certainly soaring.

usttsdw: Just look to Dimbag to see how someone would actually listen to someone saying shiat like this.

The problem is that with Dimebag we had someone silenced whose skill and prowess as a musician appeared to only be going up. He very likely would continue to break ground as a musician, collaborate with others, create something interesting and be a shining example of someone who has skill and talent and drive and willingness to take chances and make something new and be a positive influence on current and potential musicians.

....and with Cowell we lose someone whose main contribution is that he makes fun of people at their own expense and assists in the creation of pre-fab artists. He's a "Sucker of Satan's Cock" if you don't mind me referencing Bill Hicks. His loss would be felt around places like karaoke bars, the waffle house and the employees lounge at the Times Square peep booth.

So, I ask of you, where really is the loss here?

abhorrent1: Depeche Mode is still around?

I saw a live taping of Letterman about 12 years ago with Depeche Mode as the musical guest. Even then they seemed played out and anachronistic.

Didn't stop the whispey kids a few seats down from being really into as they danced and mouthed the lyrics.

Yes, and they're also releasing a new album and touring, so this whole story is an amazing coincidence.

Simon has no room to talk about Depeche, a band that, like them or not, had/has a large following and sold a shiatton of releases, and still puts out material.

I can't tell if that was snark at my expense. I actually have no issues with Depche Mode, it was just never my scene. Those kids loved them though and good on them. They were just very whispey is all.

Nothing at your expense. Just a way to flag this thread for continued viewing. I dont know what a whispey kid is exactly but I have a pretty good image.

I'm trying to get away from using the word "gay" to describe people. I have no idea if they were gay or not, but they fit a stereotype we all know.

I went to a Depeche Mode concert in my twenties. I was the oldest person there except for the parents chaperoning their pre-teens. (It helped that I was with a smoking hot young woman, however!)
