It's kind of funny that John McCain still says things.

Surely subby, you are not arguing in favor of Morsi's power grab?

This kind of threat expression from a senior member of the US Government has to be taken seriously by Morsi. Therefore, how can it do anything other than cause him to consider backing down?

I am not. I am mocking McCain for grasping at anything to make it look like a scandal and stay in the spotlight.

The middle east shouldn't be our problem anymore. We tried, we farked up, we need to let people sort their own issues. Egyptians got Mubarak to step down, they can do the same to Morsi if he crosses a line with them

Other questions that John McCain would like to have answered:

- Who Put the Bomp In the Bomp, Bomp, Bomp?
- Where's Waldo?
- How many licks to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
- Would you like fries with that?
- What's the deal with airline food?

What is he trying to gain from that, by the way? He has repeatedly attempted ti run for President and not been elected. By 2016, he will be over 80 years old, so he doesn't have another run for President on the table. Is it purely bitterness for running a poor campaign in 2008, choosing one of the worst possible running mates, and not being elected?

I agree, if only because we really do not seem to have much of a grasp on "fixing" the Middle East. There are far too many cultural differences and nuances, I think, for us to be involved without royally pissing people off and ending up in protracted wars. It's tough; you really don't want to see people suffer and die, and have to rise up and revolt in order to enact change, but at the same time -- how did we get to where we are? How did anyone? Perhaps the Middle East needs to take a natural course of its own without American intervention. I really don't know the answers.

Did Glenn Beck rape and murder a young girl in 1990? Why has Glenn beck refused to answer this? It's a simple yes or no. I'm not saying Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990... but people are asking questions.

The fark, I don't know. Maybe he's trying to make amends to the establishment by ushering in the Palin American regime of the party? Maybe he's just pissy still that he lost to the black guy. I don't know. If I was at the point where I was yelling at clouds then maybe I could understand him better but I don't because I'm not

The Middle East is very used to the idea of senior members of the government who are not supposed to be taken seriously.

Morsi is playing a complicated game here. The U.S. should leave him alone, and wait and see what happens. If there's some nudging to be done, there are other countries who can do it better.

McCain is determined to drag us into some other country's problems - despite Obama's efforts to let the surrounding countries and its citizens work through the issues.

The US does NOT need to be the policeman - we have enough issues. Israel should start fighting their own battles and quit dragging the US into it. You can only take so many swings at the hornets' nest before they come out, stingers at the ready. Israel's neighbors aren't the nicest, I grant you, but the US really has more issues at home that should rank above Israel - who for months rambled about Iran - and now that Iran via Hamas confronted Israel, it just didn't end well for any of the citizens. Imajellydoughnut is a bad dude and I'm not for his continued empowerment, but US shouldn't have to solve all the problems. (this is a tangent I grant you - sorry)

Whilst it was nice that he's started to dial back the herp-a-derp on Rice, McCain's age is starting to show. He's rambling about how the GOP needs to not bring up the "abortion thing". Sir, where were you MONTHS ago?

Solve some problems at home John and then we can talk about your war drum banging...

The problem is that the courts and other legal checks are still run by the pro-military faction. So we're looking at a military dictatorship vs. an emerging populist dictatorship. Most people will say that a populist dictatorship is better, but it can also go very, very bad once it gets the mob behind it. When Morsi kept referring to "protecting the revolution" he sounded an awful lot like the old school Communists.

2012-11-26 12:20:40 PM
McCain really should just accept the fact that he didn't win in 2008, he's been playing up this "passive-aggressive, wise mentor from across the aisle whose sage advice should be heeded" shtick since he lost, the bitterness of losing is just too obvious. It makes him look pathetic

It also sounded eerily similar to the later stages of the French Revolution, when people were tried and executed for crimes against the rebellion.

France had a long and really shiatty period before they were actually independent. First came the Reign of Terror, then Napolean, than other countries overwatching them because of Napolean, then a little peace and then WWI, WWII.

Speaking of abortions, Mac, just who exactly is porking Cindy these days?
And what's become of your buxom libtard daughter?

2012-11-26 12:48:34 PM
The dismal support of the Republican Party by female voters, among other segments of society, on Election Day has served as a wake-up call for the GOP, McCain admitted. He said one of the ways to broaden the appeal to women is to dial down the rhetoric on abortion.

"Leave the issue alone," he said. "I would allow people to have those [pro-choice] opinions and respect those opinions."

This is pretty infuriating to me. They've gone from trying to make racial profiling of Hispanics the law of the land to being "softer" on immigration. From "lets sacrafice the coountry's credit rating" to "fark Grover Norquist, I want to tax the rich" and from "put an asprin between your knees/ your body rejects rape sperm" to "Meh, fark it. Let them abort as many fetuses as they want too".

They aren't changing because of new facts. They aren't changing because they had an epiphony where they realized the issues thir positions were creating. They are changing to get more votes so that they can stay in power...and they're telling us that shiat. Straight like that. These folks should be marginalized and ridiculed by the media as the clowns that they are.

Exactly what did McCain say about the Morsi situation that suggests he wants to make it into a "scandal"? I'll answer that for you: nothing. He says the US should respond to Morsi's moves, and suggests ways to do it. You'll need more than that to justify that hysterical headline and accusation of showboating to stay relevant. As for "The middle east shouldn't be our problem anymore," our current involvement is the Obama Administration's call, so direct some of that criticism toward the proper target.

tallguywithglasseson: Well... shouldn't the US rebuke Mosri's power grab?

The last time I checked, Senators from Arizona aren't in charge of the foreign policy of the United States.

I am fine with McCain using his considerable power to exert some influence over the foreign policy of the United States. The Senate has to approve the President's Cabinet, and the last time I checked Obama is trying to get a new Secretary of State approved. I bet McCain can find some way to leverage that nomination to exert some influence over our mid-east policy.

However, I am not fine with McCain going on Sunday morning talk shows and spouting off his stupid for the whole world to see and laugh at. The last thing anyone needs is for Morsi to see the United States as a messed up banana republic where hundreds of Senators all think that they're the Secretary of State.

To be fair, at least Obama's criticisms were more than just petty arguments over semantics.
