Thanks everyone. I would have posted DIT earlier but my TF had expired and I cant post till it goes green as a liter. Figured I would re-up in consideration that this went green. There goes any productivity at work this month.

My fiancée has been volunteering with the Special Olympics for probably close to a decade now and this has always been a cause that she has been quite supportive of, (and probably one of the reasons she can deal with me as best she does) she coaches a sport every season and has been quite active. She has volunteered for this road race for the past several years and has decided to give running it a shot. I figured to make up for every excuse that I could think of as to not run it as well myself I would do what I could and see if I could drum up some support for her.

The link above goes to the race info page with her donation form for the race. If you have been considering making a donation to the Special Olympics or are looking for a good cause to help out I would be quite grateful for your support. Based on the events I have attended with her, this is a great organization and really does a great job at bringing joy to the athletes that participate.

Thank you

About all I can offer are moobs. I doubt that anyone would really want those from me.

My advice to her:

Go *that way* really fast.

If something gets in her way, turn.

That it is, It may not be a marathon, but it is the first run outside of the gym that she has participated in and its something that she is looking forward to. It may not be a huge distance, but its a good start, and a heck of a lot more than you'll see me doing any time soon. I am not a runner by any means.

I almost offered a bounty for that, but then couldn't figure out how much possibly becoming perpetual photoshop fodder was worth to me. *shudder*

I am disappoint. I wonder how long it will take this fiancée of yours to realize you don't really love her.

I tried being an athletic supporter once before, and the job stank.

Serious advice: Start farther back than you think at the start, you get a boost from passing other runners. At the finish be supportive but give her some space if she pushed it. The thing I hate most is going all out and getting 50 questions when I just need a minute to settle down.

Good for her. I try and do one 5k a year for the same reson, and I hate running. It's a real sense of accomplishment that's not as hard as you think.
