Sunderland, Vt. -

A happy ending to the search for a missing boy in Bennington County.

Joseph "Jo Jo" McCray, of Arlington, was located alive and well by a ground search team around 9:30 Sunday morning.

Jo Jo is a kid who thought he was a hunter, but we knew this wouldn't last.

Jo Jo left a home - t'was in the Land of Sunder - and they found him in the grass.

Get back, get back, get back to where you once belonged.

Get back, get back, get back to where you once belonged.

Get back, Jo Jo. Go home.

Six is too young to allow to go by themselves in the woods. Especially during hunting season while wearing camafloge.

Lucky he wast shot by another hunter by mistake.

Has anyone yet referenced the obscure song "Get Back" by a plucky young foursome called The Beatles (with an equally plucky African-American keyboardist named Billy Preston) ? I understand they were somewhat popular back in the day and if no one has mentioned the headline's similarity to a portion of the lyrics of that song so far.....well I'd like to be the first.

You decide that taking a 6 yo hunting is a fantastic idea then don't pay him any attention and he gets lost?

That some mighty fine parenting right there folks!

Great idea dad! Let's take a 6 year old hunting, and let him go off on his own. Better yet, let's take him to an unfamiliar area and not give him a cell phone.

I started "hunting" with my dad when I was about 8 years old. I carried a .22 rifle, but no bullets. I was not there to shoot. I was there to learn how to move through the woods, how to properly carry a rifle, and how to clean animals after my dad shot them. It was a ton of fun!

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for cash, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that allow me to fap to pictures of people like you.

His dad always said "Son, if you ever get lost hunting, fire three shots in the air and wait"
He fired three shots... waited
Built a fire with the arrows and bow to stay warm... waited
Finally... fark this... walked out.

Tough times man... some folks just got to get rid of one of their kids by setting them off in the woods. He had no weapon, it was all up to him to see how badly he wanted to live.

It's Vermont. There's no cellphone service in Vermont. Should have given him a bell or a whistle. Or do what New York parents do, tether him.

If you are reporting that

a) a lost six-year-old had no firearms
b) a lost six-year-old was not carrying a cellphone
c) a lost six-year-old was not an experienced hunter

then you might be an American reporter!

Well, maybe Canadian or Australian at the limits.

d) a lost six-year old wearing camo instead of a brightly colored hunter's safety vest

Kid was damned lucky he didn't up getting shot by another hunter.

Cell service or not; there are ways of preventing this from happening. Like paying some got-damn attention to your kid.

Look out behind you
Jojo's got his gun
He wouldn't mean to but
You know he likes his fun

Jojo dig those spinning lights
Way out games and dizzy heights
Below him
Jojo dig those Broadway nights
And flashy lines
You know him...

A whistle would have been a good idea, but "no cellphone service" isn't much of an excuse. You don't need a base station for an FRS/GMRS radio or an old-school walkie-talkie.
