As a Vols fan it's been nice seeing USC lose to every decent team they play. Fark you Kiffiin

As much as I hate to admit it the Irish have a great team especially the defense

For a while now, Oregon has forgotten how to play and win close games. When they meet an opponent they can't overwhelm with offense, they struggle a bit.

Let's just thank our lucky stars that Ohio State has a post season ban, otherwise the NCG is Notre Dame vs. THE Ohio State University. The level of SEC fan biatchdom would be more derp than the elections.

No way. The team that dismantled a very good Oklahoma team on the road looked like a championship caliber team and won me over. I'll be cheering for them.

So if Notre Dame beats the eventual SEC champ in the BCS title game, will you and all the other haters admit that ND is the best team in the country? Or will you all just go rants about how the game was fixed and the BCS is totally rigged?

Well, I certainly can't speak for other SEC fans, but I'm not insane. Fixed games? Lol

Of course they will be the best team in the country if they beat Bama/UGA.

As much as I dislike the omnipresent hype that usually follows ND, it is finally justified. They played a great schedule and I have always respected the fact that they do not play AA teams (though I am pretty cynical about their move to drop UM in the coming years).

Yeah. OSU wins Big10 championship and Rose Bowl. Alabama beats ND in the "Championship" Game. OSU 14-0, everybody else with at least one loss. That's a recipe for another split championship right there. Thank God the playoff is coming soon.

If that happens, yes.

It won't happen. ND is perpetually over-valued, to itself as well as to its numerous promoters.

ND would be about 8-4 in the Big Ten if it bothered to join a conference.

They do think they're special, and this year may change the whole "joining a conference eventually" thing, but they have a really good team this year. You can't really deny that.

2012-11-25 10:10:23 AM
This feels a lot like 2002 and 2006, where teams that had won a lot of really close games all year, largely on the back of a great defense, were supposed to have absolutely no chance against some allegedly vastly superior opponent. I have no love for Notre Dame and even less so now that they wimped out of our annual matchup, but the defense is absolutely legit.

And lo, there was a crimson beast, with seven heads and seven times seven horns, and a withering tree grew from its mount, which was like unto a snake in the foreparts, and then a horse, and its tail was a worm. And the beast prepared to do battle unto the lord. And all the whores of Babylon went before it strewing flowers and blood.

...I may have muddled up the scripture a bit, but I don't think it ends up well for the beast.

See, I couldn't figure this out during the ND game. Are they basing the fact that OSU would be 3rd in the BCS off of their 4th AP rating. The only reason they are 4th in that is because AP wants no chance of them winning the title (because of the controversy). If OSU was eligible they'd be either number 1 or 2 in that poll.

If they meant that OSU's computer scores are so bad that they'd be ranked 2nd in humans and still fall to 3rd, that's another story. There's just no way I can see a big name team like ND or OSU being undefeated and ranked behind 1-loss teams if they were eligible.

which is exactly what notre dame did give or take the officials bailing the domers out at home versus stanford. and at least oregon crushed their weak ass opponents unlike notre dame's struggles against mighty purdue, byu, pitt. this is the luckiest team in recent memory. 5-0 in games decided by a td or less (that's a sign of good luck).

ND beat Oklahoma, BYU, Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, USC, Purdue and Miami this year. At the beginning of the season, their schedule looked a lot tougher than it ended being. Wake Forest was supposed to be better. USC was supposed to be better. If their strength of schedule is weak, it isn't for a lack of trying.

completely agree that it's not the domers fault that pretty much everyone on their schedule had down seasons compared to recent history, but the facts on the ground are that notre dame played a relatively weak schedule and repeatedly won by 7 or less and needed overtime to beat the likes of pitt (who were demolished by a 1-aa school). not saying i know who else deserves to be in the ncg, but i'm saying there's reason to have lots of doubt and reason that bama/georgia fans were cheering for notre dame last night. the domers appear to be the easiest mark (of all the potential match-ups) in the ncg. and considering nd's recent history in bcs games (of the non-championship variety) it's possibly they lose by 35.

I'd be in favor of the computers allowing to take margin of victory into account if its capped -- e.g. every victory by more than 14 points is treated as if it were a 14 point victory.
