from Sh*tmat Presents The Rolf Harris Mashup CD

which is chock full of great music.

Strangely I've heard of both Rolf Harris and Sh*tmat, but not a combination I would ever, ever have thought to put together. I may have to check that out...

this is mild. it can get really sh*tty here. Last year around January, we had temps in the negative teens and winds at 125+mph.

yeah, that's no cause for closing anything down. you just minimize the time you spend outside. though I have been out taking photos in 60mph winds at night in the winter before.

the only time in the 15 years that I've been here that the city pretty much closed down was one January when we got four feet of snow on one day, a two day break, and then another three feet or so. We had one day off work after the second storm.

Man, that's amazing, in both good and bad ways. Good because wow so much snow, and bad because what a mess. We complain here in CT when we get 4 inches. And you have big brass ones for venturing out in 60mph winds.

here are the photos I took the windstorm night. for most of them, I found a ridge to hide behind to shelter myself from the wind, but the first few are right in the midst of it all.

Checked your photos. In New York we get shiat that is like a tenth or less of that once every ten years and the whole damn place shuts down for a week (and I'm out on my XR650L loving the hell out of it). You just put Alaska on my list of places to go to before I die. During the winter. I need to see that. I love extreme weather. Thanks for a great show. Does this stuff get archived? It's pretty unlikely that I'll be awake every Saturday to listen but I'd play this at work every Monday if it was available.

I don't archive it, but there are a few people here who do record it every week. I don't know if they have the bandwidth to share, but I don't mind if they do. There are solutions you can find via google that will let you set up regular recordings.

I'm also a big fan of extreme weather. I love it here for that, and many other things.

Waaay back in the early days of proto 'internet', which was really dial up to "Source" system . When I had a Apple II and a blazing 300 baud modem and a subscription to the 'source'. (Circa 1983). Susan B (whatever) used to 'blog' about dog sled racing and the Governor of Alaska at the time was promoting the 'internet'; not known as internet at that time, as a educational tool for teachers and started classes for kids that were in remote places using those computer thingies. Which at the time require either satellites or dial up. It was so cool seeing Susan B's 'user publishing' (now, known as blogs) in the 1980's detailing her trip.
