No. soosh's radio show thread is cross-posted between TFD and the Main page. Posting it to the new tab would only cause confusion at this point.

It's on the Main page so that the liters can enjoy soosh's weekly show too. IMHO, it would be unfair to keep this TF only. I've been cross-posting it to the Main page for several months now, long before there was a FarkUs tab.

I took an interesting way around to music. Listened to old blues and rockabilly and western swing/Hank Williams/Ernest Tubb earliest, then was in jazz band in middle school and was listening to swing and the Blues Brothers and the stuff they were covering before I ever heard Hendrix or the Clash or any of that. Didn't really start listening to The Beatles until college.

It's on the Main page so that the liters can enjoy soosh's weekly show too. IMHO, it would be unfair to keep this TF only. I've been cross-posting it to the Main page for several months now, long before there was a FarkUs tab.

Sit back, relax and enjoy. :-)

Thank you for letting the Liters in on this. Haters can eat a bag. I look forward to this on Saturdays!

You're welcome.

Didn't think breakfast_in_bedlam was being a hater, though. Just unfamiliar with the reason this is on the Main page and he seems to be enjoying the thread too.

Thankfully real trolls and/or haters are rare.

actually, no, the station has been paring down the physical copies of CDs quite regularly and moving to digital files. wouldn't be worth the money it would take to mail them to Alaska.

check with your local public radio station. even if they can't use them, they may be able to sell them at CD sales to raise money. we do that, but even the market for that has been dropping off.

yeah, that's no cause for closing anything down. you just minimize the time you spend outside. though I have been out taking photos in 60mph winds at night in the winter before.

the only time in the 15 years that I've been here that the city pretty much closed down was one January when we got four feet of snow on one day, a two day break, and then another three feet or so. We had one day off work after the second storm.

Duck_of_Doom: Man, that's amazing, in both good and bad ways. Good because wow so much snow, and bad because what a mess. We complain here in CT when we get 4 inches. And you have big brass ones for venturing out in 60mph winds.

Psssh! Trying battling this!

soosh: Duck_of_Doom: soosh: yeah, that's no cause for closing anything down. you just minimize the time you spend outside. though I have been out taking photos in 60mph winds at night in the winter before.

the only time in the 15 years that I've been here that the city pretty much closed down was one January when we got four feet of snow on one day, a two day break, and then another three feet or so. We had one day off work after the second storm.

/someone should knit you a ball cozy

heh. I layer and have a lot of merino wool.

here are the photos I took the windstorm night. for most of them, I found a ridge to hide behind to shelter myself from the wind, but the first few are right in the midst of it all.

The pleiades look so blue in those, as they should...excellent color..and No smearing of the stars for a long exposure on those to capture the blue. Very good!

breakfast_in_bedlam: Listening to the weather report right now. As a year 'round motorcyclist I wouldn't stand a chance in Alaska.

Checked your photos. In New York we get shiat that is like a tenth or less of that once every ten years and the whole damn place shuts down for a week (and I'm out on my XR650L loving the hell out of it). You just put Alaska on my list of places to go to before I die. During the winter. I need to see that. I love extreme weather. Thanks for a great show. Does this stuff get archived? It's pretty unlikely that I'll be awake every Saturday to listen but I'd play this at work every Monday if it was available.

I don't archive it, but there are a few people here who do record it every week. I don't know if they have the bandwidth to share, but I don't mind if they do. There are solutions you can find via google that will let you set up regular recordings.

I'm also a big fan of extreme weather. I love it here for that, and many other things.

Waaay back in the early days of proto 'internet', which was really dial up to "Source" system . When I had a Apple II and a blazing 300 baud modem and a subscription to the 'source'. (Circa 1983). Susan B (whatever) used to 'blog' about dog sled racing and the Governor of Alaska at the time was promoting the 'internet'; not known as internet at that time, as a educational tool for teachers and started classes for kids that were in remote places using those computer thingies. Which at the time require either satellites or dial up. It was so cool seeing Susan B's 'user publishing' (now, known as blogs) in the 1980's detailing her trip.

When I was five I had heard that beef steak was expensive in Alaska. So I put together a plan to import steak to Alaska.

It was a crappy plan. I hate frozen nose hairs.
