Current position in brackets.

Friday:
Fortuna Düsseldorf (13) 2-0 Hamburger SV (9): Fortuna finally claim their first home win of the season on the strength of goals from Robbie Kruse and Stefan Reisinger. Hamburg was weakened by a hamstring injury to star Rafael van der Vaart.

Saturday:
Bayern München (1) - Hannover 96 (6): Bayern look to rebound from two successive draws (last week in the Bundesliga and midweek in the CL) against a decent Hannover side which has European aspirations.

Schalke 04 (t2)- Eintracht Frankfurt (t2): This is the match of the day with both teams currently tied for second, eight points behind Bayern. Schalke is coming off a big CL win at home and want to keep rolling.

Wolfsburg (14) - Werder Bremen (7): A reunion of sorts as the Wolves' Diego, Naldo, and new sporting director Klaus Allofs meet up with their former team. In fact, Allofs moved from Bremen to Wolfsburg this week. Bremen is still trying to knock on the European door.

Mainz 05 (8) - Borussia Dortmund (4):
Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp visits his former team today. BVB is on a tear lately after dismantling Dutch champions Ajax 4-1 in the CL. They'll look to leapfrog one or both teams in the Schalke-Frankfurt match.

Greuther Fürth (17) - FC Nürnberg (16): This is the oldest derby in German soccer as the two Bavarian teams meet for the 254th time (but for the first time in the Bundesliga). Both teams are trying desperately to avoid the drop.

Sunday:
SC Freiburg (10) - VfB Stuttgart (12): Two mid-table teams in a huge pack (only one point separates places 6 through 12). Each team will be trying to make a move while hoping that the top five don't start to pull away.

1899 Hoffenheim (15) - Bayer Leverkusen (5): Hoffenheim has been lackluster all season, and is struggling to stay in the first league. Leverkusen is in the tail end of the top five, one point behind Dortmund and two behind Schalke and Frankfurt).

FC Augsburg (18) Borussia Mönchengladbach (11):
Augsburg is in serious trouble, having taken only 6 points in their first 12 matches. Gladbach has been inconsistent all season, but is looking to build on their success in the Europa League.

Bayern is playing great, perfect match so far. Let's hope the Eintracht match stays the way it is and let's see Mainz score a few more.

I agree with everything except the last part. If everything stays as is, BVB moves up to second.

And once again, this thread will go green after the Saturday matches are over. Is Central European Time such a hard concept to understand?

Dante scores to put Bayern up by 4. I can also finally say I found a dark skinned man that I can outdance. I thought he was having a seizure during his victory celebration.

Hannover quickly comes back and Neuer makes a great save after a huge shot on goal.

Gomez scores on his first touch(?), 5-0. Maybe the injury helped him out a bit, he didn't freeze up in front of the net like he always does...

Other than the Bayern match it was a day of draws and early goals followed by not much else.

Caught the end of the Schalke match, they really should have scored again. I hope for their fans' sake they were not playing like that the whole time.

Damn, Bayern is on fire. Last season's Champion's League loss must have stung.
