I don't think you ever heard "Baseball Giants" much even back in those days, the football team would be the New York Football Giants, but the baseball team would need no qualifier, just New York Giants would suffice enough to identify it as the baseball team back in those days when baseball was indisputably the national sport

I assume you mean, the man to hit the last NY Giants home run... Since I know of at least one man still alive who hit a home run for the Giants.
