Spaced Cowboy: HaywoodJablonski: Does college put touchbacks on the 25 now, or is ESPN screwing up?

Yeah, they put them on the 25 now for kickoffs only. Punts are still 20, I believe.

Because the college offenses today need all the help they can get, right? Jeez.

When did this happen?

Popcorn Johnny: IamKaiserSoze!!!: Y'know, I love Denard, but think of how ND and Neb would have turned out if they had Gardner ready as No. 2 QB from the beginning.

I wonder how things would be had Gardner been the starter from day one.

Yeah, that would have been tough to do, but I must admit wondering the same thing.

I think it was one of those misguided safety rules. They wanted to discourage dangerous collisions on kick returns, so they lowered the incentive to return it out of the end zone. This year is the first year it's been done if I'm not mistaken.

Back in FG range at least. Would rather get 7 up on the board though.

mediablitz: Facebook feed is sadly pretty quiet about the Ducks/Beavs game. The Stanford loss really sucked the life out of everyone.

I'm hoping USC beats Notre Dame. Notre Dame is the most overrated team in the nation (IMO). They will get squashed in the championship game if they do make it.

Notre Dame is a legit top team this year, but it's mostly their defense. If they play Alabama they'll get crushed, but 'bama would crush pretty much anyone at this point.

Pretty much everyone has figured out that kick returns carry the highest chance of a injury-causing collision, since it's the only time there's no line of scrimmage and every one gets a running start. The NFL took a different approach and moved the kickoff forward from the 30 to the 35. It has resulted in more touchbacks where the ball goes out the back of the end zone, but we're seeing more and more returners decide to try and run it out when it doesn't.

I'll admit to not watching much OSU football this year, but when did they switch to the black letters on the back of the jerseys? Looks dumb with the grey numbers.

steamingpile: ffish: Also, a blog post about the BCS picture.

Here are the odds as of right now:

Alabama in title game: 87.1%
Notre Dame in title game: 71.1%
BCS confusion: 30.9%
Georgia in title game: 9.5%
Oregon in title game: 1.4%

For explanations, see the link.

I don't get the explanations for UGA, I understand close wins but doesn't change the fact that IF they beat bama they are in.

I would give them a 40% chance to be there and that's only about the same percentage I give them to beat bama, I would give them more of a chance but Richt and all that.

My computer gives them a 75% shot against GT and about 11% against Alabama.

I grew up a huge Notre Dame fan. I do think they are a GOOD team, but not top 5. I think they get stomped by any of the teams behind them.

Ah, yes, 2006. The game where people screamed they didn't want a rematch, which led to the string of SEC championships and.....a rematch of a regular season game.

But at least that rematch was so awful in the ratings that it gave us a playoff.

Commemorative jersey just for the Michigan game. Usually they're white (as are the numbers).

Haven't heard REM in a commecial since Microsoft got permission to use It's the End of the World As We Know It, for a Windows release.

Just a one time alternate jersey being used for this game. The helmet is different too. Shinier chrome with a wider stripe.

You'd think a college full of dork virgin engineers could design a defense, but NOPE!

They had a tough schedule and beat some good teams. I think they are the most overly dissed team in the NCAA.

Not a ND fan and never root for them, but c'mon
