They were Mexicans. It wasnt a deal.

I am not getting the outrage over this. Much cleaner and better than the shiat stained chicken that they serve

Owner Agustin Juarez told KCTV5's Emily Rittman that a customer on Thursday asked to put a deer in the basement freezer for a few hours. By Friday, the customer had not picked up the deer but a health inspector came by at 12:45 p.m. Friday and undertook a 2 1/2 hour inspection.

Suspicious coincidence. A sting?

After my brother gets his deer butchered he gives all the bones and leftover parts to the owners of a Chinese restaurant. Apparently they make a soup out of all the parts. He gets free food in return.

I made venison tacos last week. They were absolutely delicious.

Venison is a meat of the gods.

The Stealth Hippopotamus: Deer is tasty

Are these people saying they prefer nasty and arbitrary health laws versus delicious deer steaks?

Weird, I always thought deer WAS food. Learn something new every day.

Packaged venison from a butcher would be perfectly fine, but this is somehow unsanitary? I'm having a hard time being bothered by a restaurant storing deer in its freezer. Also I thought most chefs never wear gloves, I worked at a high end restaurant for years, no one ever wore them.

I have a shoulder from my 7 point buck in the smoker. Garlic, clove and raw sugar rub.
Should be ready by dinner time.

Yeah. A fully intact dead animal is more sanitary than my mouth. And I spit on your burger sometimes. What's the problem?

One time on a whim we stuck a deer leg in the smoker just because we didn't feel like grinding it, turned out incredible! Now we always save 1 or 2 just for that.

Maybe they should try sneaking a live deer next time.

In addition to the dead deer, the health inspector found numerous other issues. T

Deer shiat.

Did you see the part where they said that's where they keep the ice? Who knows what diseases that thing has or what was living in its fur.

Oh, deer...

or the pictures? I prefer to keep a deer's leaking arsehole and lyme disease separate from the stuff that goes into my drink. I also love the smug dickbag in the video's reaction, like "oh I don understand what big deal ees, I feel bad for my customers, they are the veectims here" gotta wonder what happens there the other 364 days of the year the inspector isn't there.

/at least field dress the deer you lazy asshole.

rhiannon: ElBarto79: Packaged venison from a butcher would be perfectly fine, but this is somehow unsanitary?

Correct.

Yes. "Gee, I dragged a dead deer in from the field, complete with whatever critters are living on its hide, and brought it into a food preparation area. I didn't wash it, dress it, or even bag it. I then shoved it into a freezer that normally contains 'only ice'. I have no idea from where it was taken, nor how it was handled before it showed up in my 'only ice' freezer. Y'know, the one that contains the ice I use for drinks."

Because nothing says "taco" quite like "deer tick taco." Or "taco with extra fleas, please." Or "deer hair taco." Or "intestinal parasite taco."

And nothing says "a soda with ice" quite like "a soda with ice and deer hair." Or "a soda with ice and deer ticks."

Does fully intact mean fully intact?

Who kills a buck and doesn't immediately field dress it?

And the meat is only gamey if it was butchered by some one who didn't know what they were doing.

They use every part of the animal.

Yes. Nothing like a little deer shiat, urine, blood or other bodily fluids in the ice that's going in your Coke.

Generally, you still want to remove the innards before storing the rest of the carcass. Cool it all down and make sure to remove whatever happens to still be in the digestive tract. Plus, you want to reduce the risk that the bullet wound contaminates everything else.

As to the offal, the heart and liver are both good if fresh. The bone marrow, IMO, is a bit strong. But the dog loves it.

processed properly?

You mean when its smoked or otherwise seasoned/marinated in some way that covers up and overcomes up the gamey taste.
Not saying its bad. Just that its a taste that mostly only those raised on it appreciate.

And ya, a fresh kill deer, without proper cleaning and dressing being stored around other foods is cross-contamination. Not something you want in a resturant.

I'm of the opinion that there are some people who think any food that doesn't have man made chemicals added to it must taste gamey.

If i remember right, I had some elk when I lived in Washington state, but I still prefer deer over it. I thought the elk was a little more gamey, but maybe thats just me.

Gimmie deer-ka-bobs or deer sausage any time and im happy.
