I always thought people were kidding when they said people were dumped at the ER entrance.

I've seen it first hand at least a dozen times. They drive up, push some wounded fecker out onto the sidewalk, and then take off.

The housekeeping staff even had a mop and bucket in the utility closet near the ER doors to clean the blood and other stuff off the sidewalk.

All of the patients who were dumped (well those that lived, probably half) always forgot how they got there or who drove them.

Chances are, the people who do this do not want to talk to the police. Whether they are a witness or guilty, they just care enough to see that the person is given a better chance than just being abandoned.

Really, though, the ER isn't a reverse-drive through.

Los Angeles used to have problems with people being dropped off unconscious by their stoner buddies. It was a problem because the ER had to assume they were junkies who were ODing on heroin--this was bad, because Narcan is not useful for other kinds of unconsciousness and much time was wasted giving it to people in other types of drug comas. There were PSAs asking people to please stay a few minutes and tell the staff what drugs you had been doing and they promised not to turn you over to the cops.

On Thanksgiving a relative was claiming Obama will cause the economy to dive and soup kitchens will come back since so many people will be doing bad like the Great Depression. I just shrugged my shoulders. I just show up for the food on Thanksgiving.

As a Bradenton resident I thought this was most thoughtful of her husband, ya know, to save her the cost of an ambulance and all. I'll bet she didn't even say thank you. Some people are so ungrateful!

I am also sure that the reason he did not stay was that he wanted to go get some 409 to clean up the blood she thoughtlessly messed up his car with.

BTW - 409 is the quicker blood cleaner upper. I have experience at this.

Why ask questions you already know the answer to when you're not really being rhetorical?

Sounds like a good way to toughen her up before Black Friday shopping. You never know when she might have to take a bullet while fighting for one of those X-Boxes.

Yeah. Just go with that. It's endearing knowing that neither of you have ever met any sociopaths. I truly hope it stays that way for the both of you. Although using a tad bit of knowledge and empathy might go a long way for both of you...

Oh... wait....
