I love bizarre and obscure Christmas music. Just about every single artist out there has released Christmas music over every single musical genre out there. Traditional, lounge, country, rap, metal, techno/electronika, Ska, punk, Hawaiian, African. You name it, and I can probably drag out an example of the musical Genre being used to make Christmas music.

I pride myself on my expansive, and ever expanding collection of Christmas music, and this time of year is great because I can listen to it with impunity....

With that said... even I find the crap they pump into the stores to be trifling and insipid.

lets make this an awesome Christmas song thread!

This is pretty much the only Christmas song I actually like. Probably because nobody plays it, and therefore I only hear it when I want to hear it.

Christmas music is okay, but Christmas music on the radio before it's even December, really drives me nuts. I am so sick of hearing it by mid-December that I leave my radio off for the last two weeks of the month.

The correct pluralization is Hippopatamusses.

Do I know you off-line? You sound like a friend. He squeed a few years ago when I let him burn borrow a recording with Riu Riu Chiu & Patapan. Favorite obscure carol: On This Day Earth Shall Ring. The best carols are religious ones. And anything from Dr. Demento, but that's a given.

I still believe "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime" was the result of a stoned bet between Lennon and McCartney over who could get a more hideous song on the charts.

I'm a sucker for Carol of the Bells, so far this is my favorite. Wish I could find it for purchase somewhere so it doesn't crap out on the highs with the volume up, but I'll admit I haven't looked very hard.

Here's another good version. I have to find a new link to it every year because somebody runs around sending take-down notices on it. The grinches!

My point was more that the video on youtube doesn't have really high quality audio, but thanks! Wait...did you mean the Mr. Mackey version? Hmm, suppose I could. Hadn't really considered it.

Here's another choir doing Carol of the Bells.

I Am Santa Claus with a bunch of crappy Christmas cards or something as the video.

Toyland.

And that's about it for Christmas music I can stand.

Silver Bells is the only remotely tolerable Christmas song. The only exceptions are those performed by Perry Como.
