We have a Possum Valley Rd 'round these parts (not a spelling mistake, the 'O' is Omitted).

Maybe it's just because I'm from redneckland, but who the fark puts an "O" on the front of possum?

That makes as much sense to me as the British spelling of aluminum.

Because that's their actual name?

From Wikipedia:

Opossums (colloquially possums) (Didelphimorphia, /daɪˌdɛlfɨˈmɔrfiə/) make up the largest order of marsupials in the Western Hemisphere, including 103 or more species in 19 genera. They are also commonly called possums, though that term technically refers to Australian fauna of the suborder Phalangeriformes. The Virginia opossum was the first animal to be named an opossum; usage of the name was published in 1610.[2] The word opossum was borrowed from the Virginia Algonquian (Powhattan) language in the form aposoum and ultimately derives from the Proto-Algonquian word *wap- aʔθemw, meaning "white dog" or "white beast/animal".[3] Opossums probably diverged from the basic South American marsupials in the late Cretaceous or early Paleocene.

He looks like such a catch! What woman could turn down the romantic overtures of a hunk like him?

Opossums are western marsupials. Australians grey meat is a possum. West By God Virgina grey meat is an opossum.

That said, it's a critter.

Investigating officer Sgt. Christopher Bowers said the incident occurred Nov. 11, when Williams allegedly confronted Lillian Kneece and made the vulgar gestures and made comments in a low tone.

Se must have said "Hey, good lookin'! Whatcha got cookin'? How 'bout cookin' sumpin; up fer me?"

I would like to see a demonstration of non-vulgar tongue gestures, in case I become a quadriplegic.

He even followed them from the store and no violent confrontation? Something tells me Mr. Kneece isn't from eastern TN.

Did he ring her doorbell dry?

She said Williams waddled briskly but with obvious difficulty from the store, got into a vehicle while panting uncontrollably and departed to find a dunkin donuts to refresh himself with four or five creme filled bismarks while wondering if he should switch to a heavy degreasing detergent for the hair washing portion of his morning toilet.

*shrug*...I've always included the 'O' in the spelling, but it's essentially silent insofar as how people pronounce it. At least in this region of the country; maybe other sound out the 'O'.

THIS. Why did ol' Hank not receive an ass-whipping right there in the store? I'm not an internet tough guy, but if I was out with my wife and some dude started making obscene gestures at her, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't at least try to kick the shiat out of the guy.

Sigh. So much derp 'round these here parts. Is it too much to ask for Tennesseans to not act like total farkwits? And we wonder why the rest of the country thinks we're all this way...
