In retrospect, the 1987 vintage CGI effects of the TARDIS actually aged WORSE than the HO-scale version of the TARDIS used in 1970. I know that was probably cutting edge stuff for a TV show to pull off then, especially when you consider it wasn't until 1991 that Terminator 2 proved CGI was feasible for films and 1994 before Babylon 5 tried to use CGI in a weekly TV show, but the McCoy era effects just look terribad.
