I was at Sears this morning. I waited in line in the electronics department to get a Wii-U for my daughter.

You know what ticks me off about you people? You are all criticizing the shoppers who do this, and yet not one of you lazy bums got your butts out of bed at 4:30 this morning to drive to the store to make sure somebody else gets a merry Christmas.

If you don't get what you want for Christmas this year, who are you going to blame? Not your mom, I hope. Not the one who did the cooking and the cleaning and the decorating and the shopping and the wrapping so Christmas would be nice for YOU.

Do you think I WANTED to get out of bed at 4:30 this morning after spending all day yesterday orchestrating Thanksgiving? How about a little less disrespect and an occasional "Thanks, mom, for doing that".

Sounds like he was trying to find another sale for a slick deal on some new underwear.

So wait, I'm still not clear, was he out or in?

Because if he was in, somebody should make it clear that he was in what he was in.

2012-11-23 12:27:14 PM

you are a puppet: Sounds like he was trying to find another sale for a slick deal on some new underwear.

Roger Rivera, who was shopping in the Sears, said the man who was punched then pulled a gun and pointed it at the rabble-rouser, although Carey said the man actually pointed the gun at the ground. Everyone scattered, "tumbling over things, dropping boxes," Rivera said. The man who was trying to cut in line ran and hid behind a refrigerator before he fled the store.

Could they spin the article any harder?

How about 'Man stops violent assault by pulling out gun!'

Cause, ummm, some jackass PUNCHED HIM IN THE FACE. Before that, the same jackass was pushing and otherwise being a jackass. That's not something people should be allowed to do. It's not just a d-bag thing to do; it's actually quite dangerous. Punching someone is a serious attack.

I'm sure everyone on Fark is big and tough and can handle themselves. But so what? I'm old, fat, scrawny, and spend my life behind a desk.

The guy that pulled the gun is a hero. Without any additional violence or damages, he managed to get a crazy, violent, dangerous jackass to stop punching him.

The tough guy that wanted to shove people around? "The man who was trying to cut in line ran and hid behind a refrigerator before he fled the store".

I bet you that guy thinks long and hard before punching someone again. I'll also bet you anything, he wouldn't have thrown the punch if he weren't convinced he could beat the guy's ass. Without the gun, he'd probably have been right.

As a concealed weapon holder I say this, you only brandish your weapon when your life is in danger, and when those conditions are met you shoot to kill. I don't see the justification, but if someone had pulled a deadly weapon, or made me fear for my life or the life of my loved ones, I'll grant him an express ticket to his own funeral.

She raised concerns about whether Sears had enough security, noting that she only saw men at the store wearing "Security" vests.

Obviously some women wearing vests would have solved the problem.

The one near my house had a great deal on major appliances a couple months back, so I went up and bought a new dishwasher. Also, our washing machine decided it wanted to turn into a hand crank model and a couple dudes from their service department came out, fixed it and gratefully accepted some ice cold bottled water (it was summer) then went away. No fuss, no muss. I likes 'em.

The queue barger is lucky to be alive. You don't go punching random people out in Texas. This is why.

Subby should be ashamed for mischaracterizing this event, the person holding the gun was simply protecting himself from a wild hooligan.

Oklahoma has CC laws on the books and we recently passed the open carry.

was reading posts from people last night lined up at stores for Black Friday and people were commenting about "now we got open carry let's see someone act stupid"
for starters open carry under our new law only applies to the folks who have ccw permits who apply for open carry so you can't just go get your gun and start walking down the street. had a guy arrested the other day for going to vote with his gun on his hip. Of course the d-bag got turned away and his mistake was coming back in disguise then after voting took his disguise off and was like "ta da"

Yes, only the broke and insane go out shopping on Black Friday. Only the stupid assume that it is the only day on which gift buying can take place. I refuse to waste extraordinary amounts of time and brave the herds of stupid to save a couple bucks on a WiiU. In fact I'd pay upwards of $200 to get out of an experience like Black Friday. Don't let that stop YOU though, I do enjoy spending the day after Black Friday reading about the carnage.

True Sears Story! I was coming home last night after turkey and drove past the local Sears about 10PM or so. A car had rear ended another pulling out of the parking lot and his Sharp AQUOS 90" TV that he had strapped to the roof of his car with blue Sears tape!, had broken loose and landed in the street where another driver had run it over.

Strapped to the top of a 10 Y/O Pontiac Grand-Am....

I also am a CCW holder and generally agree with you, but... The line crasher had already been acting aggressively, and had just punched the CCW holder in the face. At this point, the CCW guy took the lowest escalation to defuse the situation immediately, and without any further violence and taught the line crasher a life lesson that might, just might, sink in. He drew, but apparently kept the barrel depressed in the ready position. That kept it from being pointed at any innocent people, but was ready in a blink if the line crasher escalated.

A lot of people might think this was over the top, but I ask you: How do you know the line crasher, who is yelling at people, shoving others, and then just punched you in the face, isn't armed himself (knife or gun)? How do you know what an unstable person is about to do next? A punch in the face actually can cause major trauma and even death (if you fall and knock your head on something, it's pretty easy). If the guy had followed up with a full on attack, then the CCW might have been severely injured or even killed (we're not all super ninjas after all; some of us wouldn't fare well in a fist fight). He defused the situation in the quickest, cleanest way he had available.

I do not blame the man. If someone was acting the fool like that and took a swing at me and connected, you better believe I'd draw down on his ass.

Wouldn't catch me shopping somewhere on black Friday to begin with. First step to winning a fight is to avoid one. I have too much to lose right now to afford to drop some dumb ass black Friday shopper.

1. Sears still exists.
2. He didn't kill the guy assaulting him.

I got a laugh out of the internet tough guy here saying he'd only pull his gun to protect himself if he thought he was going to get killed. Generally speaking, nobody thinks a stranger is going to kill them until it's too late to do anything about it.

Because the bystanders had just been watching the line crasher going nuts yelling, pushing, shoving, and punching somebody in the face? Perhaps that had already attracted their attention. When the guy that just got punched pulled his gun, in Texas mind you, they most likely were thinking "hell yes".

If your kids are so ungrateful that you feel the need to get out of bed at 430 in the morning just to please them, you're doing it wrong.

My mom always got us wonderful and thoughtful gifts without trampling others. She also taught us to help out in the kitchen so she wasn't stuck doing everything on Thanksgiving.

You also could have pre ordered that Wii-u months ago, and paid it off over time.

He would have been perfectly justified in shooting the guy that punched him. Period. A fistfight between grown men is not a joke, but a potentially deadly situation. Fight Club is bullshiat. I'd have a hard time refraining from shooting someone that punched me in the face, if I were the type to carry a concealed weapon.

"It kind of went a little crazy in there," Carey said.

"We're glad the incident was resolved peacefully," said Sears spokeswoman Kim Freely.

In other news, Texas has a different definition of "resolved peacefully" than the rest of us.
