Isn't the point of Thanksgiving to be a secular holiday of good will? Being good to each other and thankful regardless of religion?

I can't think of anything ruder than making Thanksgiving about one particular religion.

I think the right wing has its talking point. If my scientific survey of redneck inlaws at thanksgiving is any indicator, the right wing media has been blithering "fiscal cliff" for long enough for the scared rabbits that listen to be CONCERNED, if not outright WORRIED.

I'm not seeing much of a downside to the fiscal cliff 10% spending cut and expiration of the tax cuts that would increase revenue. Don't we want the debt to get smaller?

Please stop talking Fiscal Cliff. It's already cutting into my sales.

Seriously, as soon as they started talking Fiscal Cliff my sales dropped 20% over previous weeks. You don't need to act or not act to screw up the economy but merely talking about debt and taxes will cause a lot of peons to think twice about spending.

Ya funch of bucking Grinches.

fta Some Democrats, including Sen. Tom Udall of New Mexico, voted for the debt-ceiling deal only because it avoided default. "Almost everything else about this deal stinks, and it stinks to high heaven," Udall said at the time.

Angels With Dirty Wings defense? I don't think so. Those sneaky Democrats LET the Republicans force them into a corner and only signed onto the deal because they knew it would make Republicans look incompetent and a little stupid.

The Teatards in my family are convinced that Obama is causing the fiscal cliff panic. "His socialist policies downgraded our international credit!"

"No, that's because the moronic Freshman Tea Partiers in the House, who had no clue what they were doing & didn't understand what the Debt Ceiling was, pushed us into a nonsensical and completely avoidable fight. Bush raised the Debt Ceiling 7 times and nobody said boo. We needed to do it ONCE in Obama's first term and those idiots nearly drove us into default."

"Typical liberal! Everything's always Bush's fault!"

no no you have it all wrong. republicans will not allow a tax cut since it would go against all that st ronnie preached. and the democrats are the party of big spending and need to keep it up to pay off this years voters and ensure enough more for 2014.

now in an alternate universe i like to call the real world what you are proposing makes sense.

so it won't happen.

My BiL 'Pulled Rank' yesterday when I pointed out that the debt ceiling isn't raised to authorize new spending, it's raised to pay for spending that's already authorized.

I'm thinking that since the holiday was created by Lincoln who mentioned religion less than 5 times and was almost never seen going to church, we should probably do the same.
